Tips For Making And Serving Dandelion Wine
When making dandelion wine, consider the following tips:
- Always start with sterilized equipment.
- Use only the petals for the wine. Avoid any green parts, which will add astringent flavors. If you want some astringency in wine, you can leave a few green parts – but not many .
- When siphoning your wine from one container to another , filter through a very fine filter to remove any microparticles from the wine. You can use multiple layers of cheesecloth as a filter.
- Serve chilled, just as you would any other white wine or dessert wine.
- Keep the wine for up to two years, stored as you would any other bottle of wine.

Organic In the olden days, when people had less money and didnt mind spending hours and hours gathering dandelion blooms, dandelion wine was quite popular among the populace. What a difference a few years can make. Fortunately, people like Carla David, the owner and winemaker of Wild Wines, are preserving these ancient practices!
Until a few years ago, I had never heard of dandelion wine and had never seen it in its natural state.
The trick to preparing acceptable dandelion wine is to separate the yellow petals from the green flower base before blending them together.
Carla is fully aware of this and makes her wine only from flower petals.
Bouquet and Palate:
Take care of it the same way you would white wine: serve it cold. Both in terms of scent and taste, this wine is fairly modest and delicate in its presentation. With an unique dandelion flavor and citrus undertones of Meyer lemons and lime zest, it is a refreshing drink. This dry, vibrant dandelion wine has great flowery aromas of meadow flowers and honeysuckle, which I thought to be quite pleasant. A distinct softness evolved into a wine that is similar to mead, with a long, clean aftertaste.

It Is Daunting To Choose A Recipe For Your First Batch Of Dandelion Wine So Here Are A Few Tips To Guide You:
Use only the yellow petals. Leaving the petals attached to the green base will make the wine bitter and unpalatable. This step, called the second picking, can be quite laborious.
Once youve harvested your flowers, recruit a group of friends to pick the petals from the base. I also highly recommend a chilled white wine to go with this step.

Best Dandelion Tea For The Money Dandy Blend Instant Herbal Beverage With Dandelion
This interesting product is not quite a tea, but not quite a powder mix it lies somewhere in between the two. Dandy Blend has created an Instant Herbal Beverage that mimics instant coffee but is more along the lines of an herbal tea. This particular blend is based around dandelion, so we felt it would be an excellent addition to our list.
In addition to water soluble ground dandelion root, Dandy Blend also contains chicory root extract, barley extract, rye extract, and sweet beet roots. The organic version does not contain sugar beet root, but the way the extraction process is done, fructose is converted during the extraction process, allowing for it to still be slightly sweet.
The blend of all of these extracts is water soluble and ready to stir into water or other beverages. It can be served hot or cold, but we prefer it mixed into a thick, hot mixture reminiscent of a rich espresso. You can use this as a base for a cappuccino or other steamed milk drink. As with most dandelion teas, it is caffeine free.
Dandy Blend is gluten free. Even though it lists barley in the ingredients, the barley is extracted with a process that uses water and does not produce malt. They use ELIZA tests for gluten and gliaden, ensuring that you can be confident in the gluten free status of their product. It is also Non-GMO, Kosher, Vegan, and Vegetarian.
