Is There A Limit To How Much Alcohol You Can Buy From Aldi

ALDI’s 2019 wine Advent calendars go on sale

After checking with a store associate at a few stores, there really isnt any limit to how much alcohol you can purchase from Aldi.

This can be especially useful knowledge for out-of-state shoppers who have made a trip specifically for the alcohol and who are looking to stock up. The only real limit is how much your car can fit.

Is Aldi Wine Really Worth It

Not all the wines you find at Aldi are worth trying. Even though the prices are very affordable, there are some you should just simply steer away from. However, that doesnt mean there arent any worth trying, which we believe weve shown based on the list weve provided.

Thanks to these wines, Aldi is showing that its moving in the right direction. This is critical as other retailers have shown that they are simply happy treading water or even moving backward.

Some of the better wines from Aldi come from the Exquisite Collection. Those, plus the Dancing Flame offerings are making Aldi wines worth considering whenever youre looking for a good bottle of cheap wine that still impresses the palate.

For us, we prefer Sweet Sparkling Moscato. Its the ideal wine when youre looking for something to drink while enjoying a nice piece of pie for dessert.

But dont just take our word for it. In recent years, Aldi has won over 30 awards for their wines, including gold in the category of Best Buy for their Moscato, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, and Malbec offerings.

If thats not enough to get you to try a bottle of wine from Aldi, we dont know what is.

How To Create A Build

Mimosas are traditionally made with orange juice and Champagne, but you can pair any bubbly with a variety of juices and fruit garnishes. Creating a mimosa bar lets everyone customize their own unique cocktail. And buying everything at ALDI lets you do it affordably.

Heres what you need from ALDI to make this mimosa bar:

  • Belletti prosecco
  • Natures Nectar Orange Juice
  • Other varieties of juice such as Simply Nature Organic 100% Super Fruits Juice and Natures Nectar Cranberry Pomegranate Cocktail
  • Fresh berries and sliced fruit like lemons, limes, and oranges, raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries
  • Champagne flutes or other slim glasses

Mimosas are typically a 1:1 ratio between bubbly and juice. One bottle of Belletti Prosecco will be enough for about six mimosas.

Keeping Variety Low And Volume High Helps Keep Prices Down At Aldi

One thing every regular Aldi shopper knows is that they won’t necessarily find a dozen options of, say, ketchup at their neighborhood store. Aldi stores carry a “limited assortment” of products at a “significant volume,” according to its website. This;enables the chain to land good deals with suppliers and provide low prices to its customers, as reported by NPR.;

Scott Patton, vice president of corporate buying at Aldi, told NPR that unlike;traditional supermarkets, Aldi ” been involved in being a low-price leader since Day 1.” He continued, saying,;”Because of the way we structure our business … we are comfortable that we will come out as a leader in the price war.”

One of the many ways Aldi leads that “price war” is by limiting how many brands the chain carries. So the next time you find yourself doubting the quality of a super low-priced item at Aldi, know it’s the result of the way Aldi does business and not reflective of the quality.;

Aldi Keeps Stores Small To Keep Prices Low

ALDI selling wine Advent calendars

It doesn’t take long to do grocery shopping at any Aldi store.;According to CNBC Markets, Aldi’s stores are “one-fifth the size of a typical supermarket” with a few wide aisles and 12,000 square feet on average. This works for many consumers, like Aldi Nerd blogger Diane Youngpeter, who told CNN;Aldi’s simple layout helps her shop more efficiently. “I’m a busy mom. I don’t have time to navigate a huge grocery store with kids begging to get out and go home,” Youngpeter explained. “I can get in and out of an Aldi in no time. I’m not sifting through 50 different varieties of salsa.”

Thanks to its smaller size and minimalist layout, Aldi saves money on real estate and labor costs , per;CNN, and it doesn’t have to carry as many products as its competitors. Typically, an Aldi store carries around 1,400 items versus traditional grocery stores and superstores, which can carry anywhere between 40,000 to over 100,000 items.

Aldi has found a way to keep its prices low by reducing its energy consumption. According to Aldi’s website, the grocer is always looking for ways to make less of a carbon footprint while saving money. How? Aldi has solar panels installed at stores and warehouses and has stores equipped with LED lighting and sustainable refrigeration. Every Aldi warehouse uses ammonia, which is “a natural refrigerant with a Global Warming Potential of zero,” in its refrigeration systems, according to Aldi.;

Aldi is big on solar energy.;In 2018 alone, according to Aldi’s website, its solar panels minimized the grocer’s release of CO2 emissions equivalent to “15.6 million pounds of coal being burned.”;The grocery chain is also big on reducing plastic.;”Aldi has never offered single-use plastic shopping bags. What Aldi Stores Carry Alcohol

The best way to determine if a particular store carries alcohol is to check the Aldi store locator.

There, you can search for the nearest stores to your location, and even check boxes to have the search engine find stores that carry wine, beer or both.

If the stores near you dont carry wine and/or beer, its probably due to state laws or local ordinances in your area. Some states do not allow the sale of alcoholic beverages in grocery stores. Some states leave it up to city or county governments to make that decision. For example, where this writer lives, the nearest Aldi cannot sell alcohol because the city it is located in does not allow. However, there are Aldi stores in the county to the East and the county to the West that carry wine and beer.

In some cases, whether or not your Aldi sells alcohol is a matter of available liquor licenses. Stores must have a liquor license to sell alcohol, and sometimes their availability is limited.

Fun fact: While the U.S. Aldi stores do not carry hard liquor, that isnt the case in other parts of the world. For example, Aldi stores in the U.K. are known for an award-winning line of gins.

Rosso By Grand Alberone

The Grand Alberone Rosso is another red wine that is a great buy at Aldi. The grocer does not provide much information on this wine. However, the producer tells us its a blend of Teroldego, Zinfandel, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Rosso is aged for an unspecified period of time in oak barrels.

Imported by Prestige Wine and Spirits, the Rosso by Grand Alberone starts with a nice aroma of chocolate, dark berries, spice, and plenty of vanilla.

It tastes sweet, smooth, and lush, full of savory fruit, a little cola, and even more vanilla. Underneath you may detect a bit of earthiness, but it adds to the flavor of the Rosso. The wine is fun, simple, and easy to drink. The finish consists of a combination of tart fruit and sweetness.

This wine;from Aldi begins with pleasing aromas of ripe dark berries, a little spice, a little chocolate and lots of vanilla. The wine tastes smooth and sweet and is chock full of savory tart fruit with nicely integrated spice, cola and more vanilla.

Aldi Stores Keep Prices Low By Closing Early

Aldi doesn’t generally follow the norm when it comes to operating a grocery store, and that includes its store hours. While other chains like Walmart keep the lights on for as long as 24 hours a day, Aldi turns them off not long after dusk. Visit Aldi’s;store locator page and you’ll find most locations typically operate between 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with some even closing as early as 7 p.m.;

It might seem like closing early would mean the chain loses out on potential sales, but closing early actually saves you and Aldi money. According to Taste of Home, Aldi’s hours of operation allow the German-based grocer to “save on wages and reduces operational costs,”;thus providing more savings for its customers.

“Aldi is perfectly positioned as the low-priced leader,” Burt Flickinger, managing director of Strategic Resource Group, told CNN Business;in May 2020. “A family with five kids and a rescue pet spending $200 a week of groceries at a typical supermarket chain is spending $120 to $140 a week at Aldi.”
