Blenheim Vineyards is open daily for tastings, with a relatively inexpensive tasting fee at $8 per person. The tasting fee includes a wine glass, which they advertise that you can bring back for a free tasting the next time you visit. Although dogs are not able to enter the tasting room, they can be outside. The winery hosts several fun events throughout the year and features a food truck regularly. How To Get To Blenheim
Blenheims Woodbourne airport is small yet includes car rental and is located just a few minutes drive from the wineries. I love those tiny airports it is so easy and fast, you go in and out within no time! Check Skyscannerfor flight possibilities and ticket prices to Blenheim.
Another option to get to Blenheim is to take the InterIslander ferry from Wellington to Picton. The ferry ride costs app. EUR 40 excl. car or camper and takes app. 3.5 hours.
Do know that many car rentals do not allow the rental car to go on board the ferry between North and South Island. This means you will have to drop off the first rental car in Wellington and pick up a new rental car in Picton . In that case, make sure you catch the ferry of 12:00h to be able to pick up a new rental car before the offices in Picton close. That is why, coming all the way from Turangi atTongariro Crossing, we chose to fly from Napier to Blenheim instead of driving all the way to Wellington first to catch the ferry.

Personally, when it concerns renting a car, I would recommend Sunny Cars, an all-inclusive, worry free rental concept with affordable, fair prices, great service and no unpleasant surprises upon pick up or drop off. I am a big fan and use them all the time! In most countries the 2nd driver, free cancellation up to 4 hours in advance and all-risk insurance are standard included. Ideal, I use them all the time!

Arden PlaceFood & Drink
Some know it as the Napa of the East Coast, Charlottesville is bursting with an abundance of beautiful wineries. Not only is Charlottesville known for its wine, but also for being the origin of the Dave Matthews Band. What you may not know, however, is that Dave Matthews owns a popular Charlottesville winery Blenheim Vineyards.
With environmental concerns in mind, the building features reclaimed wood and natural daylight. The sunlight floods through large windows and skylights in the tasting room. Not only does the daylight provide natural light in the room, preventing the need for electricity, but it also warms up the space. Seven different varieties of grapes grow in three vineyard sites. You can see some of these from the deck off the back of the tasting room. Underneath the tasting room, visible through a glass floor, is the production facility. Besides his influences in the design of the building, Dave Matthews also creates art for some of the labels. His art can only be found on specific wine bottles.
Although the winery was established in 2000, the property itself holds a much deeper history. Dating back to the early 18th century, the land surrounding Blenheim Vineyards contains historical significance. It was once a resting spot for Thomas Jefferson and owned by a former Congressman. An old claim house is still on the property, along with a smokehouse, library, and school/chapel.

Theres no better museum to visit and learn about the incredible aviation evolution than at Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre. Located approx.10 minutes from Blenheim, next to Wither Hills, youll find this unique museum perched on a hill overlooking the cityscape. Tour and witness vintage air crafts displayed in dramatic settings to tell the incredible story behind it. There is a WW1 and WW2 gallery put together by iconic figures like Sir Peter Jackson, each display is given so much detail and thought.
Explore The Wonders Of The Eclectic Marlborough Museum
This colourful museum is located just a 5-minute drive from Blenheim town. Keep in mind its not a huge museum. But, theres much to see. Explore the Wine Room to learn about how Blenheim became a wine region, the incredible history of the wine industry and more. The Maori exhibition is presented beautifully with great detail. You can learn about the early European settlers who came to the island as well. A trip to this museum is a must.

Veritas Vineyard And Winery
Located ideally just 20 minutes south of historic Charlottesville, Blenheim Vineyards was established in 2000 by Dave Matthews. Family-owned and operated, Blenheim is dedicated to making wines that reflect in each sip the beauty of their birthplace.
The three vineyard sites grow Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Viognier, and Chardonnay. Part of the Monticello Wine Trail, Blenheim does not disappoint visitors who have become accustomed to the high quality of central Virginia wine.
The facility itself was designed by Dave Matthews and master craftsman William Johnson to have a minimal impact on the environment. The unique timber frame tasting room combines Jeffersonian simplicity and grace with clean, modern surprises, most notably the paneled glass floors through which visitors can peer into the wine production facilities below.
There is no shortage of visual stimulation for visitors who find themselves with a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the wine they sip as they gaze out over the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains.

We ate lunch here twice during our stay as the food was excellent and the service also good. The mussel chowder was delicious and the salmon salad contained a tasty variety of ingredients. Inside you are warmed by a huge fireplace and outside the sun shines on the tables. You are welcome to do a wine tasting which is fun.

Cloudy Bays neighbor across the street is a nice place to make another stop to taste some wine and a cup of coffee in the sheltered courtyard or by the fire. A visit to the cellar door is the perfect opportunity to purchase Allan Scott cellar door exclusives, like Eli Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and limited releases like Late Harvest Riesling. Try the Seafood Chowder for lunch. A great wedding location too!

Its all about good wine & good times, whichs the goal of this Winery. If you love experiencing the finer things in life this place is worth adding to your list of things to do in Blenheim.
When Andhow Long To Go To Blenheim
I would suggest spending at least one, preferably two or three nights in Blenheim. Possibly as a day trip from Picton if that is where you are staying, but that would be a bit rushed. Blenheim is also a great location for romantic getaways, honeymooners and weddings!
Spring and summer are of course a good time to hang around vineyards, but autumn and winter have their benefits too. Basically the area provides something for every season. In winter time less cellar doors will be open though. Check in advance the availability of places you would like to visit.
Especially around weekends, national holidays and summer vacation I strongly suggest to make lunch reservations at least a few days in advance. Take into account that on certain holidays, cellar doors and restaurants in Blenheim may be closed or open later in the day .
