Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, Napa Valley Cabernet is a leading force in the world of fine, famous, collectible red wine. Today the Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without the other. But it wasnt until the 1970s that this marriage came to light sudden international recognition rained upon Napa with the victory of the Stags Leap Wine Cellars 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1976 Judgement of Paris.

Cabernet Sauvignon undoubtedly dominates Napa Valley today, covering half of the land under vine, commanding the highest prices per ton and earning the most critical acclaim. Cabernet Sauvignons structure, acidity, capacity to thrive in multiple environs and ability to express nuances of vintage make it perfect for Napa Valley where incredible soil and geographical diversity are found and the climate is perfect for grape growing. Within the Napa Valley lie many smaller sub-AVAs that express specific characteristics based on situation, slope and soilas a perfect example, Rutherfords famous dust or Stags Leap District‘s tart cherry flavors.

Tasting Notes

A bold and complex Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine is big and plush with voluptuous layers of ripe dark berry fruit aromas and flavors of black cherry, black currant, cassis and raspberry pie, alongside baking spice notes of cardamom, clove and nutmeg. Hints of cedar and oak spice dance on the palate and are enveloped by the velvety-rich tannins and unctuous structure. This Cabernet is warm and inviting with tremendous depth and concentration. Beautifully drinking upon release and will age for many years to come.

Vintage

Overall, 2017 proved to be a slightly smaller yielding vintage but one of exceptional quality. A brief period of warm weather occurred during Labor Day weekend which accelerated the harvest in some areas. Temperatures subsided just when we needed and the fruit was allowed to mature and ripen perfectly on the vines before harvest officially began. Overall, a quick and intense harvest, with althea fruit picked within two to three weeks, but the quality of the vintage shows great flavor intensity, perfect ripening and maturity, lovely balance and complexity.

How It Works

WTSO is proud to do business with hundreds of wineries and distributors online, and we are always looking for new brands to feature on our website. Each bottle that we offer is hand-picked with careful consideration of every aspect of the wine. Once we have chosen a wine that meets the standards that our members have come to expect, we queue it to be featured for sale in our online wine store.

The bottle will then become part of a flash wine sale, wherein we offer that specific bottle for a limited period of time or until it is gone. Due to the high quality and sometimes rare nature of the wines we offer, wine deals online can last as little as one or two hours before selling out.

Regardless of what kind of wine you buy, you can count on free shipping from WTSO with a minimum purchase of any of our wine deals. When you shop from us for discount wines online, we guarantee safe and secure wine distribution and mailing methods. So, that no matter the size of your order, you can rest assured your purchase will arrive fully intact and ready to enjoy.
