And its not hard to find plenty of cases of fake wines that are being sold on websites and in grocery stores.

But the new science of decoy consumption is changing all that.

While you can buy fake bottles of wine online, they often dont have the same quality of flavor and aroma.

Now, with decoy bottles, you get more of what you pay for.

Heres how: A decoy bottle will look like when its sealed, sealed and labeled.

But the companys major volume driver, and the entry point for many Duckhorn consumers, is the line.

Originally established in 1985, Decoy by Duckhorn launched with a red blend-exclusive lineup, aimed at making use of the companys surplus wine. In 2010, however, this business strategy shifted the Decoy range was expanded, and more emphasis was placed on building the brand as a stand-alone label in its own right. Today, Decoy is led first and foremost by its Cabernet Sauvignon. Decoy probably shouldnt get into canned wine, as it is a less serious endeavor because you cant enjoy the aroma from a can. Acquisition of Bottom Line Ranch Significantly Expands Companys Central Coast Estate Holdings

NAPA VALLEY, Calif. May 3, 2022 The Duckhorn Portfolio, Inc. announced today that it has acquired the 289-acre Bottom Line Ranch in the San Miguel District sub-appellation of the Paso Robles AVA. Planted exclusively to 265 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, the vineyard features seven top clones on three drought-tolerant rootstocks. With this investment in Paso Robles, the Company has established a significant estate footprint on Californias Central Coast, which already includes Calera winerys 82 acres of estate vineyards on Mt. Harlan. The purchase will help provide the Company with access to high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon for years to come and support continued growth for its Decoy and Postmark wineries.

Bottom Line Ranch is located in the San Miguel District AVA, near the borders of both the Estrella and Adelaida districts. Situated on the slope of the Santa Lucia Range, the San Miguel District features a Region III climate that is ideal for producing world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. The 289-acre property was planted to six blocks totaling 218 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon in 2014, with 12 more acres planted in 2015, and a final 35 acres established in 2018.

The Company plans to rename the vineyard in the coming months. Financial details for the acquisition were not disclosed.

Which brings me to todays recommendation of Decoy Winery. Theyre a Napa Valley story with a Sonoma County line-up. There are eight Decoy wines made each vintage and I recommend them all 2 of them especially so. The wines, prices and a note on each are below.

Ive listed Decoys winery-direct prices below For the best deal, go to Raleys and Nob Hill Foods in Napa for their 30% off on 6 bottles, mix & match. I saw most of the wines at Raleys last week, and its my understanding Raleys corporation has ordered all of them but maybe not all of them are in Napa. Ask if you cant find the one you want. Using the Decoy websites Wine Finder, I see that Whole Foods Napa carries some of the Decoy wines as well. Use the Decoy Wine Finder to see if shops in your area carry them. Enjoy buying and drinking these wines, and let me know what you think!

I like this wines citrus-flavored tanginess and how it seems to get richer after you swallow it . Youd be well-served to have at least six of these always handy for pop-in guests and fish nights at home. This is one of my VERY high recommendations. My Full Review

Everything most California Chardonnay drinkers want is here. Cream, toast, baked apples, nutmeg. Its lush but not obnoxiously so. It doesnt differentiate itself from its peers, but I dont think thats Decoys intention.
