95 Points

“The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Spring Mountain displays a deep garnet-purple color with lovely cassis, violets and warm plums notes plus hints of baking spices, bay leaves, lavender and cedar chest. Medium-bodied and firmly structured, it is ripe, vibrant and wonderfully layered with lively, crunchy fruit and fine-grained tannins, finishing long.”Lisa Perrotti-Brown

“the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is unusually unctuous and bold. Then again, that is 2015. Inky red/purplish fruit, dried flowers, lavender and licorice all infuse this opulent yet structured Cabernet Sauvignon.”–Antonio Galloni

Spring Mountain Vineyard Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

A noble variety with both strength and focus, Cabernet Sauvignon enjoys popularity throughout the globe, with its best examples displaying decades-long potential for aging beautifully. Cabernet Sauvignon thrives in Medoc in Bordeaux where it is also blended with Merlot and smaller amounts of some mixture of Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot.

The new Spring Mountain Vineyard was once three separate properties each with its own vineyard and winery: Spring Mountain Vineyards 257 acres, Chateau Chevalier 120 acres, and Draper Vineyards 435 acres. The upper most property on the estate, La Perla, was founded in 1873 by Charles Lemme and expanded by the Schilling Spice family. Originally 285 acres it had the first Cabernet Sauvignon planted on Spring Mountain.

“Sophisticated, spicy cassis aromas, with blackberry, blueberry and a herbaceous note. Voluptuous and aromatic with sweet black currants, fine tannins and freshness.”

Subtle black fruit and Christmas spice aromas expand on the palate. Beautifully balanced and elegant despite its mountain provenance. Wins points for subtlety and refinement., Linda Murphy, Decanter Magazine Top Ten List 2010 Napa Cabernets

Crowley Vineyard Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

The Crowley vineyard is at the top of Spring Mountain District AVA in Napa Valley, where rocky and well-drained, red volcanic Aiken loam produces densely concentrated fruit. At 2000 feet elevation, the days are around 10 degrees cooler than the valley floor and combined with the highest rainfall in Napa Valley and unique soils, create fruit with intense flavors, fine structure, and soft tannins Winemaker Stephen Tebb crafts this wine using gentle and minimal handling, resulting in Crowleys Spring Mountain Vineyards pure expression of the land. The 2015 release is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and spent 18 months in 70% developing new French oak barrels. The wine is rocking now and will also go the distance in the cellar.

Master Sommelier Notes,The Crowley Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 begins with a super-rich, deep nose beginning with concentrated blackberry purée, cherry pipe tobacco, creme de cassis, and purple flowers, leading to hints of crushed minerals and sweet vanilla spice. The palate is very focused and concentrated, with penetrating mixed berries, black plums, and exotic spices. It finishes with a pristine balance, stunning linearity, exceptional richness, and uncanny length. This one is extraordinary, and I highly recommend it.Kevin M. Vogt 96 Points

Keenan Cabernet Franc Spring Mountain District

2015 Restricted Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine was produced exclusively from grapes grown on the Keenan Estate located in Napa Valleys Spring Mountain District. Our two blocks of Cabernet Franc were harvested on September 21st and October 1st, 2015. The fruit was hand-picked then, after de-stemming, the must was inoculated with Montrachet yeast and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine aged in French and American oak barrels for twenty months.

Freakishly good is how we have come to describe this single vineyard Cabernet Franc from our highest elevation vineyard aptly named the “Upper Bowl”. Cabernet Franc is simply not supposed to be this delicious. Enjoy now or decades from now.

Produced from 100% Cabernet Franc and coming from the Spring Mountain District, the 2015 Cabernet Franc shows a medium to deep garnet-purple color with vibrant red currants and cherries scents over lovely roses, lilac and bouquet garni nuances with a touch of dusty earth. Medium-bodied, finely crafted and fresh with lovely perfumed fruit, it has a long, mineral-laced finish. Yum! Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate

Spring Mountain Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

Costco Notes: Intense and concentrated with dark fruits, black cherry and boysenberry integrate plum, cherry and raspberry. Layers of oak, thyme and lavender round the profile out. This wine has plenty of tannin to support the fruit.

Left Coast Tasting Notes:

Time on Gas: Aeration equal to 4 hours

Color: Nice deep dark purple with the edges starting to show its age.

Nose : Initial aromas a bit closed with a hint of alcohol. Once the unaerated bottle had time to open up, there is a hint of fruit and spices. Aeration brought out a lovely bouquet of fruits, not overpowering, very lovely.

Palate : With some time, the freshly opened bottle could shine. The fruit is hiding behind the tannins. It is just too tight, with mouth drying tannins, light in the mouth without much of a finish. Introducing lots of air brought out multilayered dimensions to this smooth complex wine. It became well balanced, the tannins smoothed out and the hidden fruit appeared. Overall finish was not long, but very nice with a hint of fruit for this medium to heavy bodied wine.

Summary: This is a nice Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, with all the characteristics you would expect. This wine should be consumed within the next two years as it is peaking.

Rating: We were split on this wine, some thought it was a Thursday and the other half thought it was a Friday wine.

Anmeldelser Af Robert Craig Spring Mountain Cabernet 2015

94+ point Jeb Dunnuck

2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain offers a classic Mountain fruit profile with its complex aromatics and fresh, focused, chiseled and structured style on the palate. Mulberries, incense, exotic flowers, and spice all leap from the glass of this inky colored Cabernet Sauvignon, and its medium to full-bodied, structured and vibrant on the palate. Brought up in 80% new French oak, it has loads of potential but needs 2-4 years of bottle age.

93 point Antonio Galloni

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is sensual, plush and inviting. It is also the softest and most open-knit of these 2015 Cabernets from Robert Craig. Soft tannins and succulent, red-toned fruit add to the wine’s gracious, alluring personality. Super-ripe red cherry and plum fruit are pushed forward, with hints of sweet French oak, kirsch, vanillin and spice that add shades of complexity.

91 Point James Suckling

“This is a little extracted with blackberry and tar character. Full body and chewy tannins. Juicy finish. Just the rich spice, chocolate and ripe fruit at the end. A blend of 75% cabernet sauvignon, 18% cabernet franc, 7% petit verdot. Better in 2019.”
