Total Wine Takes Over Giant Liquor Store In Norwalk

Total Wine & More, a liquor superstore with more than 85 locations in 13 states, will open next month in Norwalk on Main Avenue.
NORWALK –Total Wine & More, a liquor superstore with more than 85 locations in 13 states, will open next month in Norwalk, taking over the location left vacant when Wine Nation closed its doors in September at 380 Main Ave.
Total Wine will fill the more than 30,000-square-foot space with a selection of 8,000 wines, 3,000 distilled spirits and 2,500 beers, according to a company spokesman. The store will employ about 50 people, most of whom will be full time, the spokesman said.
Wine Nation had opened this spring and closed its doors after about four months. Much of the expansive shelving at Wine Nation remained empty right up to the closing date. Wine Nation continues to operate a store in Massachusetts.
Edward Cooper, vice president of public affairs and communication for Total Wine & More, said his company will not have trouble filling the shelves with products.
“We know it’s a big space but we have plenty of selections,” Cooper said. “We won’t have that problem.”
Cooper said Total Wine & More expects to open in early December and will hold a grand opening to mark the occasion.
Total Wine employees will receive 150 hours of training prior to the opening, Cooper added.
