The 14.5″ tall Chardonnay mattress is the firmest of the three models in the collection. It features one inch of Dunlop latex as the primary comfort material. While Kingsdown calls this mattress a “Firm,” we found it to be softer than what we would classify a true Firm. Rather, the Chardonnay is a Medium Firm on our softness scale.
In terms of cushioning, the billowy cover and quilting, combined with the firmer support layer, net out at an average cushioning depth, meaning the feeling is a blend of ‘floating on top’ and ‘sinking in’ to the mattress.
As with the other mattresses, we thought motion isolation was excellent, while at the same time, this mattress has a lot of bounce and a very traditional mattress feel.
