A self-confessed wine snob has raved about a $6 bottle of Aldi shiraz, even comparing it to more expensive drops from Penfolds.
The woman posted on Facebook about the German supermarkets Small Talk Shiraz, writing that she highly recommends the 1 litre bottle from the budget store.
Im a total red wine snob, Penfolds come at me! My friend got me into this and for $6 for a 1L bottle seriously get out of town Im hooked! Highly recommend guys, she wrote in the Aldi Mums Facebook group.
A premium Penfolds shiraz can sell for as much $220 a bottle depending on the vintage although it has cheaper options for less than $20.
Her post has sparked an outpouring of support from fellow wine drinkers who said it was a fabulous drink.

Its also been widely praised on wine reviews website Vivino where it has been described as sensational value and very easy to drink.

Winking owl wine is seriously underrated. As someone that drinks solely wine as opposed to other alcohol, Ive found this to be the best wine Ive had that is available under $20. My husband likes the sweet red and moscato. Both great wines for beginner drinkers or if you like it on the sweeter side.
What Exactly Is Moscato
The name Moscato is given to wine made from grapes in the muscat family. Moscato wine is typically sweet, medium-bodied with flavors of citrus. Moscato dAsti is the most well-known type of Moscato. Slightly bubbly, Moscato dAsti typically tastes very sweet and has a relatively low alcohol content.
I prefer the non-sparkling version of Moscato, with the same great taste but without the bubbly. Its smooth and refreshing, and the perfect wine for those who are just learning to appreciate the vino.
Ive tried pretty much every cheap brand of Moscato that I could get my hands on, and I have to say Winking Owl Wine has everyone else beat, hands down. Not only does it taste amazing, it only costs me around $3 a bottle!

In an effort to save both time and money, all employees are also cross-trained in order to perform every task. Thats important to the stores success because one Aldi store might only have three to five people in it at any given time, and only between 15 to 20 total store employees on the payroll, according to CNN.
Having a small and efficient workforce ultimately saves the chain a ton on labor costs and those savings trickle down to the customers. Fairly Impressed By This Wine Winking Owl Red Wine Not To Dry Or Sweet
I hate wasting bottles even if they’re getting recycled, the shipping of the extra weight and such is annoying. The white is pretty decent too.
I’ve found most of the Winking Owl wines to be pretty decent for the price. IMHO they’ve been more reliable than Trader Joe’s Charles Shaw label which more often seems to be a miss than it is a hit lately.
I usually keep a bottle of the Winking Owl chardonnay around as my go-to for cooking, deglazing, etc. I will say that I haven’t found the bottled reds to especially resemble the varietals the labels purport them to be though. Their cabernet has tended to be pretty thin, for example. I figure the red blend probably just dumps them all together, anyway.
I need to go to Aldi right now for a bag of onions and block of havarti, maybe I’ll pick up a box while I’m there…
