Probably not. Because laws make it much easier for wineries to obtain DTC shipping licenses, consumers in most states shouldnt have issues with participating in winery-run wine clubs or purchasing wine to be shipped directly from a winery, both online and in person.
However, wineries typically have to apply and pay for licenses in each state to which they would like to ship, so Koral cautions that not all wineries may want to go through the effort of getting licensed in all 42 DTC states.

Big-box liquor store chain Total Wine & More got slapped with a $22,500 fine for distributing gift cards in Florida that were redeemable in New York.
New York Fine Wines & Spirits a massive liquor store in Westbury, LI thats owned by Total Wine & More ran afoul of the New York State Liquor Authority which levied the fine at a board hearing on Tuesday.
Bethesda, Md.-based Total Wine branded the Walmart of liquor by local competitors is owned by the Trone family, whose members include US Rep. David Trone . It has had an especially bumpy ride in New York, getting shot down by the agency as it has tried to open several stores.
Just this week, it lost a court appeal to overturn the SLAs denial of a license to open a store in Westchester County, where it has faced heated opposition from local liquor stores. The Westbury location remains its only store in the state.
At issue are laws in New York requiring liquor stores to be independently owned and operated.
Many of the family-owned liquor stores in New York have banded together to challenge Total Wine over the past several years, claiming that it will put them out of business if its allowed to expand.
In the most recent flap, Total Wines competitors ratted out the Westbury store, SLA commissioner Vincent Bradley said during the hearing.
This was a case where businesses were exchanging gift cards across state lines, SLA general counsel Gary Meyerhoff said during the hearing.

What About Independent Wine Clubs
Wine clubs that are not run by wineries, such as the Wall Street Journal Wine Club, Wine Awesomeness, and International Wine of the Month Club, will be affected differently based on how they operate.
Wine clubs that source juice from producers and then bottle it under their own labels can technically apply for a winery shipping license. Alternatively, wine clubs might partner with local retailers or operate local warehouses to fulfill orders, rather than shipping them across state lines.
While there are legal ways for independent wine clubs to operate, these businesses are far more likely to be affected by stricter shipping regulations.
Wine clubs must understand the requirements which are constantly changing otherwise, they risk acting in non-compliance without even knowing until they are caught, Koral says. Though we cannot condone it, there are always some out there that do understand and are still willing to risk violating laws.
Of the wine clubs that VinePair reached out to, Logan Lee, CEO of Wine Awesomeness, noted that its members will not be affected, while Wine Access declined to comment.

Connecticut recently held a hearing on House Bill 7184. This is an omnibus liquor bill that would make a number of changes to alcohol laws in the state. Among the laws that this bill would change is that it would finally allow Connecticut consumers to order and receive shipment of wine from out-of-state wine stores, Internet retailers wine-of-the-month clubs and wine auction houses. Currently, Connecticut consumers may only order wine from out-of-state if it is shipped from wineries.
One thing is absolutely clear about the wine shipping provision in this bill. It is 100% consumer friendly. In fact, this is the primary aspect of this bill that cant be denied. If passed it means that nearly every wine sold anywhere in the U.S. would be accessible to Connecticut consumers.
So consider this bit of testimony that was presented to members of the Connecticut Joint Committee on General Business on February 28 when the bill was heard:

In short, yes. In 2005, the Supreme Court ruled that states allowing in-state wineries to ship bottles DTC cannot prohibit out-of-state wineries from DTC shipping. Thus, states allowing in-state shipping from wineries must also allow interstate shipping from wineries, making DTC shipping much easier for wineries.
Retailers, on the other hand, have a much steeper hill to climb. Although 42 states currently allow wineries to obtain DTC shipping licenses, only 10 of these states allow retailers to apply for these licenses. Three additional states California, New Mexico, and Idaho allow retailers to ship on a reciprocal agreement, meaning that if another state allows this states retailers to ship DTC, they will do the same. That leaves just 13 states that permit retailers to ship out of state.
