World’s End Stir It Up Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Type: Red Wine Volume: 750ml

Winery: World’s End

Country: USA Region: Napa Valley

District: Stagecoach Vineyard

Alcohol: 14.5% abv Packing: Original Carton of 6 bottles

Ratings and Tasting Notes:

A pure and beautiful red with blackberry, chocolate, and light vanilla character. Shows form and tension in a thick and dense style. Better in 2019 but already so delicious and impressive.

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Stir it Up comes from Atlas Peak and was aged in 80% new French oak and 20% one-year-old barrels. This has the most opaque purple color of this group of wines, the biggest, richest extract, youthful blackberry and cassis fruit, and a touch of oak. It’s impressively well-endowed, pure, tannic, and built for the long haul. This wine should be forgotten for five years and drunk over the following 20 years.

Worlds End History, Overview

Worlds end is the brainchild of Jonathan Maltus. Jonathan Maltus is much better known for making wine in St. Emilion from a variety of different terroirs. Maltus also makes wine in Australia. Chateau Le Dome and Chateau Teyssier are his 2 best known Right Bank wines. Youd think with all that experience producing Right Bank wines, he would focus on Merlot and Cabernet Franc. But that is not the case here.

At first, Jonathan Maltus wanted to buy his own vineyard. He came close to purchasing property on Spring Mountain. When that initial deal fell apart, he tracked down some very good, sources for grapes chiefly from Andy Beckstoffer and it was off to the races.

2008 marked the debut for the Worlds End in Napa Valley when 3 wines were produced. Releases have not always taken place. For example, in the exceedingly difficult 2011 vintage, Worlds End did not release any wine, selling off their entire harvest in bulk.

Manit is GOOD to be a local!! CABERNET! 94 points! Stagecoach Vineyard — an inky dark, plush beast!! Wow! Only a tiny bit to go around! Happy happy Thursday indeed!

Whew!! So, many of the savviest of you all will know WORLD’S END — the Napa Valley brainchild of Jonathan Maltus. Jonathan Maltus is much better known for making wine in St. Emilion at LE DOME and Chateau Tessier, among others. This is MODERN-styled, rich, hedonistic Cab from a coveted vineyard!

You know, some wines are Ford Escorts, some wines are Ferraris, and SOME are like, let’s say, an Audi TTS, or the Volvo R Series wagons or Range Rovers….elegantly presented, subtle-looking but absolutely ROARING, heart-pounding and powerful under the hood. That’s this wine. An incredible buy at our exhilarating price!! The 94-point review pretty much says it all — hugely robust in concentration and power — berries, black cherry, licorice, mocha, tons of silky French oak and persistent spice. Not for the shy! Only a bit to sell!

Worlds End Stir It Up, is inspired by a Bob Marley song.

Softened by 6% Merlot, this lovely concoction opens with a waft of smoky cigar box, becoming a bold, loud expression of the variety dotted in classic notes of cassis and cedar. A luxuriously velvety texture is the standout, though, supported by great structure and length. Virginie Boone

World’s End Cabernet Sauvignon ‘if Six Was Nine’ Reserve 2016

Hi! Looking for a light sip, a modest quaff?

THEN HIT THE DELETE KEY AS HARD AS YOU CAN.

YEAH. Not only is this one a prolific, tube-screamer, opulent BEAST, its got literally everything else if we had, like, an old-school clipboard, wed be frantically checking off boxes boxes of awesomeness!!! As your humble scribe, youd think Id be immune to the ferocious pace of brain-melting deals that cross my desk every day. Im not. Seriously? $85 Napa Cabernet at $32? From the maybe-best-ever 2016 vintage?

All I can say is: DROP what youre doing and lock it UP. I clearly remember the email from Tracie B. in OR who bought a case of the last Worlds End Cab and spent a week BEGGING us for more . Tracie, go big on this one. Dang!

OK, lets get to it. By now you know , Worlds End is from the maverick, too-many-95-100-point-wines-to-list Jonathan Maltus, he of the culty Chateau LE DOME, Chateau Teyssier, and many more in Bordeaux . This is his Napa project, all named after songs he loves and he accesses all the big vineyards . The wines get big scores, but for whatever reason, this was never sent in for reviews, and we think the winery here has wound down. Anyway, thats amazing news for YOU, becausewell, THE PRICE!! For Cab at this level? Its justnutty.
