Hospice Of Acadiana Gets Construction Permit

Hospice of Acadiana, the regions only nonprofit hospice provider, was issued a permit July 24 to begin construction on its new hospice house a project worth more than $2 million.

The group held a groundbreaking ceremony earlier in July to announce the beginning of the project. The hospice house will be a 12-bed, 8,500-square-foot inpatient hospice facility.

The facility, named the Calcutta House, will provide end-of-life care for patients whose symptoms cannot be managed in a home setting or patients who don’t have a home or caregiver.

The total project will cost about $2.6 million.

The store’s 50 employees have been busy stocking and training to prepare for the store’s opening at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Peter Broussard and Shayna Furneaux work to prepare the store for opening Monday, August 3, 2020, at Total Wine & More in Lafayette, La.

Bajat said the store will offer samples and jazz music later in the day, along with safety measures in place to keep customers and staff safe.

“We’re not just selling wine. We’re selling experiences,” Bajat said. “That’s why it’s so fun to engage with our customers. They may be buying this wine for a dinner party or an engagement or an anniversary, so forever that wine is tied to that experience.”

Lafayette Shopping Center With Total Wine Near Target Sold For $395 Million

Total Wine Comes to River Marketplace in Lafayette, LA

One of Lafayette’s most visited shopping centers is under new ownership after the Tennessee-based GBT Realty Corporation completed the $39.5-purchase of River Marketplace.

The shopping center, which covers 168,421 square feet at the corner of Ambassador Caffery Parkway and Kaliste Saloon Road, includes Total Wine and More, Books-A-Million, Buffalo Wild Wings and others. The Target is a “shadow anchor” of the shopping center, meaning it owns its building, but still draws customers to the shopping center. The Target will not be owned by GBT Realty Corporation.

RBL Real Estate sold the property, which it acquired in 2015. JLL Capital Markets represented RBL during the sale.

The shopping center was built in 2003 and is the most visited retail destination within 50 miles, according to JLL, ranking within the top 2% of retail destinations in the U.S. The intersection at Ambassador and Kaliste Saloom is the busiest in Lafayette, with more than 80,000 vehicles passing through each day,

JLL Senior Marketing Director Jim Hamilton said in a news release that there was significant interest from investors in the shopping center due to its location and the tenants’ performance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

GBT Realty Corporation was founded in 1987 by George Tomlin. The firm’s portfolio includes more than 40 million square feet of commercial real estate worth more than $8 billion. The firm is active in 27 states, according to its website.
