“Our 2015 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep, rich red color with a purple rim. A robust wine with an assertive and alluring attack, it has notes of strawberry, cigar and tea leaves with a touch of black pepper and clove. A mouthwatering mid-palate of raspberry is followed by an expressive and bright finish. With lush and silky tannins, this ageworthy wine will show beautifully through 2038 given proper cellaring conditions.”

Vineyard & Varietal Information

The 2015 vintage was an economically challenging one for growers due to lower than normal crop size. It was also, however, a fantastic vintage for quality. Lower-than-average rainfall during winter ensured that 2015 would be the fourth vintage in a row to be impacted by the drought. Mild and dry conditions in early spring hastened budbreak throughout Napa Valley. Followed by a moderately cool spring, there were less-than-ideal conditions during flowering, which ultimately severely impacted yields. Temperatures soared in early summer. Heat spikes over 100 degrees were seen early in June and continued to appear through ripening and into October.

Harvest for our Oakville winery began in early September with the final delivery arriving on October 1. Crushing operations went smoothly, and tank space was not a limiting factor for this vintage. Because of the hot dry season, smaller berry size yielded balanced but compact, complex and dense wines with excellent concentration of flavors.

We were a back up offer and other deal worked out. Michelle and her husband started to have second thoughts about the home because of interest rates going up. Even if the first offer did not work, I think the Alinos would have changed their minds.

Silver Oak Napa Valley

Silver Oak was started in 1972 with a simple driving philosophy – to focus production on only one varietal, Cabernet Sauvignon. What’s more, they resolved to create a wine with a style all its own: not another hard, tannic red wine requiring years of aging to enjoy, but a wine of fully developed flavors and a velvety soft texture on the day it is released for sale.

Silver Oak produces Cabernet Sauvignon from two appellations. Their Napa Valley derives its fruit from both owned and contracted vineyards, and is produced entirely at their Oakville winery. Beginning in 1994, small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot have been included in their Napa blend to add complexity and softness.

Silver Oak also produces stellar Cabernet from their Alexander Valley vineyards. A critical reason for the success of this wine, and every wine they make, has always been that they create the final blend before aging it in American oak barrels and then bottles. Over the course of four-and-a-half years, the wines flavors, aromas, and textures have an opportunity to meld with one another and the woods delicate qualities to create the kind of graceful cohesion found only in the world’s most elegant wines.

Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

$125.00

When it comes to high quality domestic Cabernet Sauvignon, I cant think of any brand thats defined the space as dominantly as Silver Oak has over the past 4 decades. Silver Oak is one of the most recognizable names across the globe in premium level Cabernet Sauvignon from the New World. The upcoming release of the 2015 Napa Valley epitomizes the distinctive Silver Oak style and divulges extravagant levels of sweet black fruits, juicy red raspberries, camphor and vanilla. With a proven track record that spans more than 4 decades of producing wines that are incredibly age-worthy, yet enjoyable upon release, Silver Oak has carved out a category with their distinctive style, and its resonated deeply within their fan base.

Making a grand entrance, the remarkable 2015 vintage was the fourth straight drought-influenced growing season and one that produced stunningly high quality fruit, but incredibly low yields. The 2015 Napa Valley Cabernet reveals beautiful focus thats supported by silky tannins that slowly reveal layer after layer of crushed blackberry, wild raspberries, tea leaves, clove, black chocolates and hints of pepper. With allocations at the lowest that theyve been in years, the only challenge to this vintage will be having enough available to satisfy demand
