Pecan And Wine Festival

After its sudden cancellation last year as one of the first event victims of the COVID-19 pandemic, Camp Verdes 20th Pecan & Wine Festival is shaping up to be one of the best yet! This annual Downtown event will be held April 17 & 18 featuring local pecans and showcasing Verde Valley wines, including some from right here in Camp Verde. Yavapai Community College is partnering again as a Platinum sponsor to provide this opportunity for the public and to support the local wine industry. Partnering with the Verde Valley Wine Consortium helps bring a wide variety of Verde Valley wines to this open-air shaded pavilion event as well as complementary products such as olive oil, cheese, local baked bread and wine related gifts & furniture. In addition, the expertise of the Southwest Wine Center at Yavapai College will be on display.

With a varied group of vendors showcasing their products outside in the warm spring weather around the wineries as well as live music on the stage this event will have something for everyone. Saturday hours are 11 am to 7 pm and Sunday 11 am to 4 pm with free admission to all activities. You can purchase wine tasting tickets or a bottle of local wine for those age 21 years or older. Food trucks, local artisans and community groups will be offering a wide array of hand-crafted products like jewelry, tote bags, metal & wood yard art, candles, scents, art & home décor as well as gifts.

Dish: Roasted butternut squash and Lundberg wild-rice soup topped with a roasted maitake and a drizzle of a good spicy olive oil

Wine: Spottswoode 2019 Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon

A hint of heat brings out the nuances in this wine. Roasting the butternut squash brings a dark, robust, earthy sweetness that helps to bump up the flavors needed to keep up with the deep fruit and earthiness of our Lyndenhurst Cabernet.

Famed Camp Verde Pecan And Wine Festival Returns After 2 Year Covid

Camp Verdes famed pecan and wine festival returns this weekend after a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The festival started 20 years ago when the region was just getting a foothold in the wine making industry. Yavapai College now offers degree programs in viticulture.

Pecans have been a part of the landscape and culture of the Verde Valley since the early 1900s when Eva Haydon, the daughter-in-law of an area landowner, planted pecan trees along a stretch of what is now the Montezuma Castle Highway.

More information about this weekends festival is online at visitcampverde.com.

Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival Date Location Approved By Richmond Hill City Council

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. – The 2021 Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival date and location was approved Tuesday night by Richmond Hill City Council.

The Richmond Hill-Bryan County Chamber of Commerces request to use J.F. Gregory Park for the festival the weekend of Oct. 15-17 was approved without any opposition from council during the meeting.

Council also approved the Chambers request to sell beer and wine at the festival on Friday, Oct. 15 and Saturday, Oct. 16. No alcohol will be sold at the festival on Sunday.

Organizers say while they wait to see whether itll happen this year, they still want to start preparing because it takes a long time to plan.

We have vendors, we have carnival, we have entertainment, so it takes a very long time for us to get everything together in order to make it possible, Richmond Hill-Bryan County Chamber of Commerce CEO Kathryn Johnson said.

Johnson says not only did they get permission to use the park, but they also got permission to sell beer and wine. Johnson says they needed this permission to begin working with other contracts and things necessary for the festival because, if it happens, they cant wait until last minute to do so.

Our vendors spend a lot of money and a lot of resources planning for this, so we dont want to wait too late to cost them more money, Johnson said.

There was one condition, that it was conditional on any governors orders, Mayor Carpenter said.
