But when it comes to King Crab Legs, thats simply not true. King Crab legs are precooked and are frozen on the ship when they are caught. Yep. EVERY SINGLE KING CRAB LEG IN THE UNITED STATES WAS ONCE FROZEN.
ALL King Crab Legs are flash frozen ON THE SHIP when they are caught. That means no matter where you buy or eat your King Crab Legs be it the fanciest seafood restaurant in NYC or from the freezer in Costcothey were ALL wild caught and cooked and frozen on the ship and shipped frozen. So theres no reason to buy them defrosted because it just means you have a ticking time bomb for them to go bad. And trust me, they go bad quickly. In fact, they could even be bad when you buy them.
You simply cannot know exactly how long theyve been defrosted. And if youre buying hundreds of dollars in seafood for a special dinner and you open up the package and it stinks, youre going to be angry. And disappointed.
Yes, Costco carries King Crab Legs year-round. During the summer and holidays you can find smaller 2-3 lb packages of King Crab Legs in the meat section, but there are generally 10 lb boxes frozen in the freezer aisle or you can order frozen king crab legs with shipping at Costco.com.

Costco is more than a bargain-buying warehouse. Its an international phenomenon. So loyal are its fans, the conglomerate has inspired accounts and blogs unaffiliated with its business yet devoted to sharing its wares and wines.

My criteria for wine are rather simple – -nothing fancy like “nose” or “fruity” or whatever — just these much simpler constraints:
Kirkland Signature Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
14.5% alcohol $12.89
Owen: The palate is quite sweet and overripe, with red fruits and cola tones. This does not deliver much for the price compared to the other wines. Drink 2020-2023. Verdict: Not recommended.
Tan: Its not as bad as last years, but it doesnt move the needle enough for a recommended buy. It tastes like a flat cherry cola. Man, I love Russian River pinots as much as I love those from Ribbon Ridge. I encouraged first-timers to seek out Russian River wines, just not this one. Verdict: Not recommended.

There are a few names behind various Costco wines, but the original maker of Kirkland wine for Costco is WX Brands. WX Brands was founded in 1999 and now has nine winemakers in California, Europe, and New Zealand.

Sinegal’s production has now grown from 2,200 cases when I wrote this article originally in 2017 to 6,500 in 2019. The increased production comes from purchased grapes.
