Company email :”Fining agents containing gelatin derived from pork and fermentation aids containing casein from milk may be used in the production of Cupcake wines. In general, these agents are insoluble in wine and are removed during subsequent clarification and filtration. It is our understanding that if any animal product has been in contact with the wine, we cannot claim it to be vegan.”

Note from Andria :”I was just on and noticed that you are researching Cupcake wines. Although I am not vegan, I have a severe allergy to the milk protein casein. Just in case you didn’t know, casein is absolutely still left in the final wine product even though the makers say that it isn’t. I have tested several and have paid the price…”

Cupcake Red Velvet Review

According to the winemaker, the wine has fantastic structure, aroma, depth of flavor and a long creamy finish. The grapes were harvested from some of the finest vineyards of Californias viticultural areas

Appearance: In the glass, the wine showed a deep purple color and was very leggy in the glass.

The aroma characteristics were of red raspberries and a somewhat significant nose of alcohol was noticed. Definitely a youthful aroma, though not a strong precursor to the wines taste. Very aromatic, as well.

Tasting Cupcake Red Velvet revealed cocoa, blackberries and black cherry on the palate. This was the unexpected pleasant surprise, given the nose. This is a very smooth and easy drinking wine. Not dry at all.

Well balanced tannins were noted mainly on the front of the tongue and the mouthfeel reminded me of 2% milk. Creamy for a wine.

The finish was long and very enjoyable. As advertised, hints of coconut were present in the lingering finish. Additionally, there was no sting of alcohol on the breathe out which was another pleasant suprise from this wine.

Overall, I really enjoyed Cupcake Red Velvet. Its a great sipper on its own and the Zinfandel base makes for a super smooth easy drinking wine. Pair with cheesecake.

Price for Cupcake Red Velvet about $11.99. Highly recommend! If youre more of a Pinot Noir fan, please check out my review of Cupcake Pinot Noir.

How To Make Wine Cupcakes

If youve never made cupcakes before, read my post on how to make cupcakes for some cupcake baking basics before getting started.

To make these cupcakes: Sift flour and cocoa powder together into a small bowl. This helps to make the cupcakes as light as possible.

Combine butter, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and vanilla extract in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Scrape down the sides of the bowl when needed to make sure that all of the ingredients are well incorporated.

With the mixer running, add the eggs one at a time, mixing until each is fully incorporated before adding the next.

Reduce speed to low and sprinkle in one-third of the flour/cocoa mixture, followed by a third of the red wine. Alternate between the two, allowing each addition to be roughly incorporated before adding the next.

Fold batter with a flexible spatula to ensure that is it is well-mixed from the bottom up.

Fill cupcake liners 2/3 full and bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake emerges with only a few crumbs attached.

Red Velvet By Cupcake Vineyards

Tonight well be enjoying the Red Velvet blend by Cupcake Vineyards. Weve had this red many times before and love it. Were pairing it with shrimp, marinated with ginger, sesame, and orange sauce, along with strawberry, pineapple and starfruit! What kind of wine is cupcake red velvet? Red Velvet is my favorite red from Cupcake. Its a nice full flavored blend of 47% Zinfandel, 29% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petite Sirah grapes. I taste a rich chocolate and dark cherry when I first encounter it on its own. Even though were having this with our dinner, it seems like it would go very well with dessert.
