If you have a chemical cleaner, like OxiClean, try this method first. Apply the OxiClean and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Take a damp cloth or rag with warm water, and dab at the area.
Hydrogen Peroxide + Dishwashing Soap
Use the same method as you would for a carpet stain. Mix together 3 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide and 1 tbsp of dishwashing liquid. Put this on to the stain and let it sit for about half an hour. Blot clean and then use fresh water to rinse the area.

If you have been unable to remove red wine from carpet quickly by blotting it up right away, youll need to resort to alternative methods. A dried red wine stain can be treated with:
Vinegar
Add one tablespoon of washing up liquid and white vinegar into a bowl with two cups of warm water. Mix well. Then soak a clean cloth and dab all over the stain to loosen it. With a dry cloth blot up any excess liquid, alternating between the two operations. Then pour cold water onto the stain blotting with a dry cloth.
Baking soda
There are two methods to choose from pour a little water onto the dry stain and blot with paper towels. Then add a small amount of baking soda. Youll see the stain change from red to pale grey. Leave overnight. Dab with a clean cloth and a little vinegar. Then vacuum.
Or you can make a watery paste with the baking soda before spreading over the stained area. Cover with a clean cloth overnight, putting a weight on top to push the baking soda deep into the stain. Once dry vacuum up the powdery residue.

This is a really simple way to reduce the red wine stain. Just pour a little wine directly onto the stain and blot with a clean cloth. For the best results pour then dab. Its quick and easy. And produces great results on dry stains.

If you are looking to remove a red wine stain from carpet but dont have any club soda, you can use dish soap and white vinegar to do the job. Follow these steps to remove a red wine spill on carpet:
How To Treat Wine Stains On Velvet
Dab the wine stain with warm, soapy water, then blot with a dry cloth. Dab with a 50-50 vinegar-water solution blot dry. Dab with warm, soapy water again, then blot dry. Dab with clear water, then blot dry. Repeat as necessary.
To treat a wine stain on washable velvet, mix together 1 quart lukewarm water, 1/2 teaspoon of liquid dishwashing soap, and 1 tablespoon vinegar, and soak the garment for 15 minutes. Rinse, and if the stain is gone, wash according to the garment’s label. If the stain remains, lightly sponge the stain with rubbing alcohol , blotting from the edge to the center. Rinse and air-dry.
