6 of us are headed to Walla Walla for some wine tasting and thought it would be fun to try and find a winery that has places to stay on site, Anyone know of any??

Hmm. I feel like I’ve heard of at least one, but will research it for you.

So what’s your end goal? Tasting wine, actually visiting wineries, or an interesting place to stay? If it’s tasting wine…best place to stay is somewhere like the , because you can walk to every single tasting room in town. The wineries are rather spread out- downtown is where most of the action is. Even if there is a winery with lodging, it would likely be some distance from town- you’d be driving in for meals everyday.

Visit The Twin Sisters Rock Formation

On the Columbia River at the Wallula Gap lies The Twin Sisters Rock Formation that stands tall over the river. This fascinating geological rock formation is stunning from the road but a quick, 1-mile hike to the basin is more than worth the stop. Airbnb: Wine Country Getaway

walla walla valley wine alliance

Located just 1.5 miles from downtown Walla Walla, the Wine Country Getaway was a lovely home base for our weekend visit to Walla Walla. The suite is a mother-in-law style space attached to the home of a very sweet family of 3 . Even with just 1-bedroom, our family of 4 had plenty of room to spread out as the space is thoughtfully laid out and equipped.

Our kids shared the main bedroom , and Slaed and I slept on the queen-sized bed in the main area of the home. Yes, we let our 6-year old take over the king-sized bed in favor of having the run of the space in the evening and morning when the kids were sleeping!

There were so many positive aspects of the suite:

  • Toys and books! We always bring along a few of our own, but it makes such a difference for our kids to have new things to play with and read.
  • Breakfast and snacks! With coffee , milk, eggs, bread, fruit, and more, we were able to take it easy on our first morning in town, and enjoy breakfast at home.
  • Porch space. Even though temperatures were chilly in the evening, it was so lovely to sneak out on the front porch after the kids went to bed to enjoy a glass of Walla Walla wine.
  • The kids loved being able to explore Mariah and Tims backyard complete with a play set, and Bergen had so much fun playing with their daughter!
  • Clean and well maintained.

Day : The Downtown Walla Walla Wine District Main Street Wineries

Main Street Walla Walla is considered one of Americas Most Beautiful Streets, according to a recent article by msn.com. Winery tasting rooms, boutiques, bakeries, jewelers, and even soap sellers nestle inside renovated Victorian and Beaux-Arts buildings, giving the street a historic, vibrant character. Your final day of tasting gives you an opportunity to take in this beautiful stretch and appreciate the stunning architecture while you sip!

Start the day with a seated tasting at Armstrong Family Winery. This first-generation winemaking family works together to craft outstanding, classically-styled Washington wines that are sold almost exclusively to Wine Club and visitors to the tasting room. This means youll discover something here that youd have a hard time finding anywhere else wines that express the unique character of the vineyards, and that tell the story of the fascinating people who participate in each bottle. Owners Tim and Jen Armstrong are likely to be around when you visit, so be sure to say hello and experience a bit more of their story.

Save time for a visit to neighboring Henry Early Estate Winery or Browne Family Vineyards before lunch across the street in the Plaza on 1st. You can dine on Greek cuisine from Yamas, New York-style pizza and stromboli from Sweet Basil Pizzeria, or a playful frankfurter at the charming Wiener & Bun hotdog window located in the historic Sayers Building.

The Best Walla Walla Wineries

Washington, Walla Walla – Weekend Getaways S1E5 – Places to Stay – Historic Hotels – Marcus Whitman

There are three main wine growing regions in eastern Washington Yakima, Tri-Cities, and the Walla Walla Valley. As with other major wine-growing regions, these are, of course, broken down into smaller AVAs based on micro-climates and individual growing conditions. Our hotel is located right in the heart of wine country, near to several of the top Walla Walla Wineries and not too far from the Tri-Cities wineries as well, which means you can explore two exceptional wine-growing regions while staying with us.

Most of the wine grown for Walla Walla wineries are of the Vinifera variety, which happens to be well-suited to the areas climate and geographical characteristics. Walla Walla wineries are best known for their red blends and Cabernet Sauvignon, though other commonly produced wines include Rieslings, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Syrah.

Though youre more than welcome to take a self-guided tour of our favorite Walla Walla Wineries, wed also love to take the stress and planning involved in that off your shoulders. At Cameo Heights Mansion, we do everything in our power to make your stay with us as seamless and enjoyable as possible, which is why we are happy to offer private wine tours, each customized to your tastes and goals, in the privacy and comfort of our luxury Limo.
