Accord Mets/vins : Que Boire Avec Une Pote Milanaise

Discover The Grape Variety: Glera

Gelisi Antonio.

It is said to be of Slovenian origin, where it is cultivated under the name of Prosekar, also known for a long time in Italy under the name of Glera. It should not be confused with prosecco lungo – although there is a family link – and prosecco nostrano, which is none other than Tuscany’s malvasia. Note that Vitouska – another Italian grape variety – is the result of a natural intraspecific cross between Tuscan malvasia and Prosecco. Under the name of Glera, it is registered in the Official Catalogue of wine grape varieties list A. It can be found in practically all of the former Yugoslavia, and more surprisingly in Argentina, but is virtually unknown in France.

Gelisi Antonio Very Friendly And Appreiciative Of Americans

This winery is located between Aviano, Pordenone, Cordenones and Roveredo in Piano. The family owned business will offer a taste of any of their wines. I found better wine at other wineries in the area, but the Gelisi wine is very average. The experience of visiting the winery is way better than the wine.

What Italians Drink: Sangue Di Giuda

After two years, I finally found a bottle of one of my favorite Italian wines: Sangue di Giuda!

I first drank this sweet red at a little gelato shop about a week after I moved here. ;Each time I went back I always ordered at least one glass, but for the life of me I could never remember the name long enough to track down a whole bottle.

I finally found the bottle and I was pleasantly surprised that this is a very affordable wine, it only cost me about $6. ;They were charging 2.50 euro ;a glass ;at the gelato shop, so I think that is the last time I will be drinking there!

Sangue di Giuda is a sweet, mild red with a little bit of fizz . ;The low alcohol content means you can drink it in the middle of the afternoon and not worry about making bad decisions by dinner time.

I went hunting around google for some good info to give you about this wine, and what I found is that not many people drink Sangue di Giuda , or at least they dont write much about it.

Veneto is an important and growing wine region in northeastern Italy. Veneto is administratively part of the Triveneto area, along with its smaller neighbors, Trentino-Alto Adige and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. In terms of geography, culture and wine styles, it represents a transition from the Alpine and Germanic-Slavic end of Italy to the warmer, drier, more Roman lands to the south. Veneto is slightly smaller than the other major Italian wine regions – Piedmont, Tuscany, Lombardy, Puglia and Sicily – but it produces more wine than any of them.

The Word Of The Wine: Bleeding

Old practice for red wines. As soon as the vat is filled with grapes, the tap is opened. A sweet but clear juice escapes from the vat . The colour and density of the juice is enhanced, but it should not be overdone. Rarely more than 10% of the volume of a vat, otherwise you risk losing fruit and bringing in bitterness.

Gelisi Antonio Sangue Di Giuda Dolce

Wine: Gelisi Antonio Sangue di Giuda Dolce.

Grapes: Croatina , barbera , uva rara

Region: Pavese, Fiuli-Venezia-Giulia, Northern Italy

Vintage: 2008

Price: $9.99

In the glass: This wine is a very deep purplish-red color with an opaque dark violet core, going out into a dark red rim definition with purple foam and some bubbliness, thereafter very high viscosity.

On the nose: Gelisi Antonio Sangue di Giuda Dolce is an unusual wine that exudes massive amounts of berry crush and jam, black cherry sorbet, dark chocolate phenolics, violet pastilles and just a touch of liquid minerality underlying. The sparkliness of the wine carries the pleasant scents.

On the palate: It is the very definition of a fruit bomb, but instead of the usually concentrated and extracted kind of fruit, this is all naturally sweet from the dark grape must, and overwhelms the palate with fizzy black cherry meat, crushed blackberries, marionberries and raspberries. Theres even blueberry cobbler here and excellent balance, so while theres sweetness, theres also acidity and some tannin structure behind it. It naturally has a long and soft finish.
