DIY Blue Snowflake Lighted Wine Bottle ~ Winter Holiday Decor

One of these conversations is between a supermarket and a big winery , the other is between independent winemakers and their customers…

We’ll let you guess which one is which )

Grapes are a limited resource and they can throw a tantrum if the weather isn’t good so it’s hard to stick to a demanding sales quota.

We’d rather pay 20 cents more to have 3,000 bottles of something genuinely delicious than 3 million bottles of something that’s just barely palatable.

Blue Wine Is Now Available For Pre

And at a pretty good price too.

Gik, the Spanish brand of blue wine that has become famous for being blue wine, is finally headed for the United States. Though an exact date of does not appear to be set, the brand has started letting American customers put in pre-orders on its BlueWine.us website.

For those who still think wine only comes in red and white or the occasional pink, a quick rehash: Despite originally only being available in Europe, Giks blue wine made international headlines last summer thanks to its striking, nearly turquoise hue. The name is not a play on words: This blue wine is truly blue. Adding to its allure, though the color may seem otherworldly, Gik maintains that the product is made entirely from natural organic ingredients: The wine itself comes from a mix of red and white Spanish grapes and the color comes from grape skin extract and a plant-based dye.

Though all that press helped Gik sell a lot of wine , the company also ran afoul of European regulators who decided that since blue wine isnt one of the wine categories defined by EU law, Gik couldnt call their blue wine wine. The brand had to tweak its label, tweak its recipe and deal with a finebut after a couple months it was back on the market.

So for now, it seems drinking blue wine in the US is as elusive as well, drinking blue wine. While you wait, maybe just grab yourself a brightly hued Four Loko.

Shaoxing Rice Wine: Where And How To Buy It

Several people have inquired about Shaoxing rice wine, a commonly used Chinese ingredient that I frequently reach for when making Chinese food, including many Asian dumplings. The questions asked include: Where do I buy the rice wine? Where is it stocked in an Asian market? and What is a substitute for it? This post will hopefully answer those questions and more!

What is Shaoxing rice wine? How is Chinese rice wine used?Amber colored, aromatic, and pleasantly nutty tasting, Shaoxing rice wine is the standard spirit in Chinese cooking. Made of brown glutinous rice, it is one of the earliest types of liquors that the Chinese made. Shaoxing rice wine adds an unmistakable flavor and fragrance to dishes, whether it is mixed into Asian dumpling fillings, added to marinades for roasted meats such as char siu pork, combined with seasonings for stir-fries, or simmered with soy sauce and sugar for red-cooked dishes. If youve ever used sake in Japanese cooking, Shaoxing rice wine is employed quite similarly in Chinese cuisine. Sip on some of the rice wine and youll warm up quickly as it contains about 17 to 18% alcohol.

Surprise Shaoxing rice wine is made in Shaoxing, a city located in Zhejiang, a province on the eastern coast of China. Picture Shanghai and Zhejiang province is right below it.

We Saw An Opportunity To Stand Out In A Fiercely Competitive Industry

Winemaking is a bloody red ocean of competition. Just think about what you see in the supermarket: hundreds of different bottles, all competing on traditional factors such as age, grape, location and primarily price. But, up until youve paid and opened the bottle, you have no idea what youre buying.

Whats more, as competition intensified over the years, the demand for wine has stagnated. This has led to global overproduction. In Spain, the problem is so significant that many vineyards are forced to pour their wine away.

So we were definitely crazy to go into this industry. But we figured, if can do it, so can we.

Okay Here’s A Secret For You

You can often save big bucks by going just off the beaten track.

If the grapes are grown across the river from the official region’ they can still get the same weather and the same soil but without the official label’ they’ll retail at a wallet-friendly price.

Don’t know where to look? Don’t worry there are thousands of real customer reviews for nearly every wine out there. Trust them and they’ll steer you down the right path!

Blue Wine: The Latest Addition To The Wine Color Spectrum

The wine world is full of choices red or white, sparkling or still, refreshing rosé or spritzy vinho verde. Well now theres one more: blue vino.

GiK, Spains first blue wine, was developed by a group of six entrepreneurs in El Bierzo, Spain. The winemakers have never before actually made winenot until now. Instead, theyve spent the last two years conducting research in collaboration with the University of the Basque Country and Azti Tecnalia, the food research department of the Basque Government. The wines base is created with both red and white grapes, then anthocyanin and indigo are added, along with sweeteners.

The goal with GiK was to create a wine that suited the tastes of creative and daring individuals, rather than elitists or connoisseurs. We wanted to create a sweet and drinkable product, in tune with the changing world where maybe the wine industry needs a little revolution, a spokesman told Olive Press.

Indeed, blue wine is quite revolutionary. And what better color than blue: the color of warmth, mystery, intrigue. The website describes the color blue as representing movement, innovation, fluidity, change and infinity.

We cant wait to try it. If you happen to be in Spain, you can purchase a bottle for about ten euros.

We Set A Strategic Price

We sell our wine at 10 per bottle. While this number might sound straightforward, it was actually set in a strategic manner. The Price Corridor of the Target Mass tool encouraged us not merely to benchmark our offering against other wines.

It also got us to look at products that have different forms but that serve the same function or objective. So we went into supermarkets to compare prices of things like flowers, sushi and chocolate. At the end of the day, were not selling a drink. Were selling a product to enjoy, to share and to cheer.

What Is Gik Blue

When drinking Gik Blue, you are drinking something innovative. Youre drinking the power to create your own rules. Thus, we are not trying to impose a way of drinking it. We will not tell you how pair it, where or when to have it. We do not require you to enroll in a tasting course or force you to study the bible oenology. Just enjoy it.

As you possibly know, some traditional wineries really dislike when people call blue wine our product, though everyone knows it as Blue Wine or Vino Azul. That is why instead of calling it blue wine we market it as Alcoholic drink based in wine %99 and must %1 in the EU.

Blue Wine Breaks All The Rules Of The Wine Industry

Gik is radically different from all the other wines on the market. It combines red and white grapes with organic pigments to produce a vibrant blue colour that immediately sets it apart from the competition.

Our inspiration was appropriately enough blue ocean strategy. We wanted to see if we could open up new space in a highly competitive market by going for differentiation and low cost simultaneously.

SENZER Electric Wine Opener With Blue LED – Amazon Product Review

If you want to spend $50 on a bottle of wine that’s fine, but be wary when it comes to spending this much for most people, $15 can get you a perfectly amazing wine.

Find a winemaker who takes the cost of marketing out of their wine, and you could get a $50 bottle for just $15!

But be careful about going much lower if you spend $5 on a bottle of wine less than $2 goes towards the wine, the rest is lost on packaging and taxes. Spend $15 and you get over $7 worth of wine over THREE TIMES more!

This New Blue Wine Is Finally Available For Purchase In The Us

Would you add blue wine to your collection of red, white and rosé varieties?

Do you remember the blue wine, Gïk, that came out last year? With cerulean hues that came from a grape skin pigment known as anthocyanin and indigo extracted from a plant, the wine was only available in select European countries. But now theres Blumond sparkling blue wine, a bottled Prosecco cocktail, and you can finally buy both it and Gïk in the states.

You can pre-order Gïk through their website, but if youre planning to try and get it for the Fourth of July , youre out of luck. The wine wont ship until later this year, in October. You can order one bottle for $16, two bottles for $28, six bottles for $66 or 12 bottles for $124 if you really cant get enough of the stuff.

As far as Blumond goes, you can buy it for $21.99 per bottle via Saracenis online store, which isnt quite as good a deal as Gïk. Its also not technically wine. Blumond is a blend of peachy-tasting Prosecco grapes from the Italian winery Fratelli Saraceni that has been mixed with blue curaçao, according to a review of the wine by VinePair. And because it only has 7 percent alcohol by volume, Italy doesnt even consider it to be real wine . Its a sweet wine, so if Moscato and Riesling are your go-to wines, you might like it.

Would you try the new blue wine, or would you rather stick to the red, white and rosé varieties?

Its Not About Grapes Its About The People

Thats right: we work with grapes from different areas of Europe, whose color and flavor we improve through food tech. We choose these wineries in terms of the people who work them and their innovative nature. Thats why Gik has no denomination of origin, but a guarantee of quality and unique flavor.
