The Iconic Vsop By Remy Martin

Rémy Martin VSOP Fine Champagne Cognac Review

Harnessing a signature style that delivers time and time again, Rémy Martin VSOP Cognac is the epitome of Master Blending. Since 1794, their quest has been to capture the true essence of Cognac and this Cognac does exactly that.

Aged for at least 4 years in oak casks at the heart of Remys historic cellars, this is a classic Cognac of legendary proportions.

In fact, the age denomination VSOP Fine Champagne is all down to the genesis of this very Cognac. Youll be sipping on history with a glass of this fine nectar.

The Rémy Martin VSOP is crafted using select grapes grown in the prestigious Fine Champagne Cognac crus, and is perfectly balanced to unite both powerful and elegant aromas of stone fruit and vanilla.

The eaux-de-vie of the Grande and Petite Champagne are renowned for their aging potential. This Cognac is something of a legend, and has been reimagined time and time again with a series of limited edition Cognacs.

It was first created in 1927, when the Cellar Master of the time, André Renaud assembled the very first VSOP Fine Champagne. History was made right there and then.

How to enjoy Remy Martin VSOP

We recommend serving this iconic VSOP with ginger ale and garnish with lime, but it goes beautifully well in just about any long drink or cocktail. Its versatility means that it can also be sipped neat, or on the rocks.

Reasons Why You Should Try Remy Martin

There are many great cognacs available on the market today. Still, Remy Martin stands above the rest with its ability to provide you with rich tastes and aromas that give you an unmatched experience.

If youre considering trying this fine liquor brand, here are three reasons why you should buy Remy Martin over any other brand of cognac or scotch whisky.

The History Behind Remy Martin Cognac

Remy Martin is named after its founder, Remy Martin, who was a winegrower in southwestern France. He started a trading house of cognac in the year 1724, and after his death in 1773, his grandson Remy took care of his business.

During the 17th century, French people could not grow wine yards privately. But since King Louis XV loved the cognac produced by Remy Martin, he gave special permission to plant new wine yards for Remy Martin in 1738.

After World War II, Remy Martin partnered with the Cellar Master, Andre Renaud, to create fine champagne in 1927. Later, Renauds son-in-law, Andre HeriardDubreuil, took over the house in 1965.

This is the only brand to expertise in making fine Champagne cognac, which appoints Pierrette Trichet, the first woman, as a cellar master in 2003. The current cellar master, Baptiste Loiseau, joined them in 2014, leading the brand to make innovative yet traditionally fine cognacs.

Rmy Martin Earned The Accord Royal In 1738

Remy Martin

Cognac is a wine-based liquor that goes through a double distillation process in small, copper pot stills with a history dating back to the 1600s . This double-distillation is the main difference between Cognac and Armagnac, as the other French brandy distills only once.

In 1724, a wine grower named Rémy Martin began producing Cognac within Charente in the heart of the Cognac region. The first bottles were released a decade later and labeled under his name, reports Kuletos. The brandy quickly gained recognition for its quality, specifically with the King of France.

At the time, the land was owned by the crown, and it was illegal for wine growers to plant new vines to expand a winerys production without the Kings permission. In 1738, King Louis XV granted the producer an accord royal , allowing for the rare privilege to expand the vineyard due to his enjoyment and appreciation of the young wine growers brandy, the cocktail bar adds.

Diffords Guide shares that fruit from those vines found its way into Rémy Martins Cognac production 14 years later. In 1997, La Maison Rémy Martins third cellar master for the producer, Georges Clot, blended the first bottles of the 1738 Accord Royal Cognac. Blending various age styles in one bottle and labeling it without an age designation, the Cognac became a tribute to the prestigious decree the House received so many years before.

The Best Of The Best In Every Sense Of The Word

Rémy Martin labels all of its products as Fine Champagne Cognac, which is an official declaration of quality rather than a matter of opinion. The brand is also particular with the grapes it uses to produce its famous Cognacs: it only grows and works with growers in the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne areas the best two regions known for their unmatchable quality.

Rémy Martin works with 900 different growers as well as growing its own grapes to ensure only the top quality bunches make their way into the XO bottle you bring out on special occasions.

The brand was also one of the first when it came to introducing the distilling on the lees the sediments that occur during vinification of the grapes. This might seem like a minor detail but it promises to make a big difference when sipping the spirit by adding an extra depth and coating to the palate. Its something youll pick up on even more when enjoying Rémy Martin on the rocks.

For an extra-special tipple, Rémy Martin also produces a bottle that contains a blend of eaux-de-vie from a single vat at the discretion of Baptiste Loiseau. This bottle, a cognac blend called Rémy Martin Carte Blanche à Baptiste Loiseau, starts at around $300 and is the missing piece in the puzzle for any self-respecting Cognac lover.

Cognac goes through a rigorous production process that starts from the moment grapes are harvested right down to the aging.

The grapes that are used to make the foundational wine are harvested between the end of September and early part of October. They create a white wine that is dry and acidic with no extra sugars required, which helps to produce a wonderfully pure eux-de-vie.

Eux-de-vie is whats produced after the white wine is distilled in small copper stills. The overall distilling process can take anywhere between 24 to 48 hours. Its this distilled product that is then aged in open grain oak casks, which gives the cognac its signature vanilla flavor.

Rmy Martin: The Only Cognac House Founded By A Winemake

The Cognac Fine Champagne appellation applies to all cognacs produced by Rémy Martin. To put it another way, they must contain at least 50% Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie. André Renaud and Rémy Martin have chosen this approach exclusively since 1948. Our Cellar Master, Remy Martin XO, blends hundreds of eaux-de-vie with his expertise in creating this signature wine. The blending technique used by the Cellar Master allows us to create a full-bodied, aromatic expression of this XO Cognac Fine Champagne. This is an exceptional scent that has a powerful yet understated aroma. It is the noun that refers to wine. The only Cognac house founded by a winemaker is Rémy Martin. André Renaud has been making wine for over thirty years. The majority of cognac is made from Ugni Blanc grapes, while the majority of Champagne is made from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier grapes. Even though Champagne and Cognac are made in very different regions, they have the same characteristics. If you want to make a brandy, it must be made from grapes grown in the Cognac region, and if you want to make a champagne, it must be made from grapes grown in the Champagne region.
