Which Months Are Best To Go Wine Tasting In Missouri
Other than the great weather that these months offer, the months of August to October are when the grapes of Missouri are harvested. This makes any trip to the wineries and scenic experience, as the fully ripened grapes sit clustered on the vines ready for harvesting.
Other than that, there tends to be an atmosphere of festivity as the wine festivals kick off in celebration of the harvest time. Fortunately, there are several towns and cities located all across Missouri, with wineries that take part in this festivity.
A Disappointing Stop With The Kids
I stopped here with my grandkids to show them how wine and grape juice was made, after passing numerous vineyards in the area. There are tours through the cellars, but we were too late for that. No explanations about the process. There were a couple of adults at the tasting bar, but no one approached us about grape juice tasting, so after a few minutes of walking around their gift shop, I apologized to my grandkids and we left. Weren’t very welcoming, and I didn’t know about the grape juice tasting, or I would have asked.

Living in wine country we have tried many. St James Winery has some of the best overall for our taste. They have many gold medals for their wines. All are very good, my taste is for their sweeter wines Like School House red and White. The staff is very knowable and friendly and large groups are welcome. Side not: try some of the cheeses.
And we weren’t disappointed with this one. On a road trip we decided to stop and take a break. After a wine tasting and good conversation with knowledgeable staff, we purchased two bottles to take back to WV with us. Recommend this stop to anyone who loves wine.
