If youve never met Papi or invited him over your house, now might be the time to start.

• Juicy? Does that make sense? You know how they say some wines are dry? This is the opposite.
• Those big cherries you have in the summer that have the pit in them. Yknow, the ones that you need to eat in like 2-3 bites because theyre so big? The flavor kinda reminds me of that.
• Maybe strawberries too, but like a whisper of it. Like maybe this wine glass had a cut up strawberry inside it for like 2 minutes, and then the strawberries were dumped out, and they poured the wine into the class. Like, super light.
• Doesnt smell that strong

• Sweetness: Kinda. Only a little bit.
• Body: Yes, its going in my body.
• Alcohol: Yeah, I sure hope it does!
• Complexity: Doesnt seem that complicated…

That’s Okay But Be Wary Of Going Higher

If you want to spend $50 on a bottle of wine that’s fine, but be wary when it comes to spending this much for most people, $15 can get you a perfectly amazing wine.

Find a winemaker who takes the cost of marketing out of their wine, and you could get a $50 bottle for just $15!

But be careful about going much lower if you spend $5 on a bottle of wine less than $2 goes towards the wine, the rest is lost on packaging and taxes. Spend $15 and you get over $7 worth of wine over THREE TIMES more!

How To Find Our Whiskeys

We only release stock once per year, because were a small company. On October 1, we tell our wholesalers how many bottles theyll receive. From there, they determine which retailers get that inventory, and distribute accordingly. So it often hits shelves anywhere from mid-October to early December. US Federal law prohibits direct sale of distilled spirits, so we cant sell it ourselves. Because we dont control which retailers receive our stock, we cant track inventory at a retailer level. The list below will help you find retailers that are likely to receive stock, but we cant know for certain.

We know our whiskey can be difficult to find, so our advice is to ask retailers in your area if they expect to receive stock, and if so, how they plan to sell it. Many retailers use a lottery or a waiting list to sell our stock. We recommend you get on as many waiting lists and enter as many lotteries as you can.

The other day Im buying an exercise bike from a guy when I see his whiskey collection. Its a nice one, a few shelves worth. Technically, bottles of Pappy Van Winkle start at $130. But youd be hard-pressed to find one for less than ten times that, even at legitimate liquor stores that work directly with Buffalo Trace, Pappys parent distillery. Older expressions like the crème-de-la-crème 23-year-old, which should cost $270 can top $3,000, easy. Thats more than a months rent where youre drinking it.
