You see, weve been fortunate to get to know the Bocellis well. They open their home to us and our guests on our Tuscany to the Sea trip, a weeklong Cultural Walking Adventure that begins in Lucca and ends in Pisa. During one of the two days that were based at our villa hotel near Sassetta, we make a scenic, easy-going walk to the Bocellis wine cellar, where we spend a very laid back, thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours. Alberto and Cinzia are always there, and when his concert schedule allows, Andrea is as well. They invite us in for a tasting that includes their own wines, honey and olive oil, as well as a chat about life in their part of Tuscany.
Afterward, we wander over to the nearby farm of the Bocellis friend, Stefania, for a casual cooking instruction. Its all a day in the life at Classic Journeys and our guests tell us the personal encounters they have with locals like the Bocellis and Stefania are among their favorite souvenirs of their time in Tuscany .

Andrea Bocelli once said about the wines that carry his last name: When I return home from one of my journeys that often bring lots of deprivation, there shall always be one of these bottles on my table. It will bring me enormous joy.

The work on the family farm was continued by Alessandro and his wife Edi, who in turn, when they had two sons, decided to run with the tradition, and named their sons Andrea and Alberto, keeping the AB tradition alive.

Andrea Bocelli’s Wine Is A Celebrity Bottle Worth Buying
A few months ago, I wrote about the launch of Drew Barrymores wine project with the release of a pinot grigio from Italy bearing the actresss name. It was one more celebrity foray into winemaking and, as I said in my review back then, the wine was nothing special when compared with many other examples from the crowded pinot grigio field.
Now comes another celebrity wine from Italy, that of Andrea Bocelli, the superstar Italian tenor, and his brother Alberto. Among other wines, they have released a $14 red, the 2011 Rosso Toscana, and it is worthy of a bow by the Bocelli brothers.
The wine, one of a number being bottled under the Bocelli label, is made from 100 percent sangiovese, Tuscanys signature variety. The grapes are from the Morellino area of southern Tuscany. The wine is young and fruity and what I look for when serving simple pasta dishes. We enjoyed it the other night with a sauce of yellow tomatoes and sweet and hot Italian pork sausages.
With its ripe raspberry, blueberry and black cherry tastes, it complemented the sweetness of the tomatoes and tamed the heat of the hot sausages. The fruit is accented by subtle leather and brown sugar notes. There is decent tannic structure and alcohol is 13 percent.
