Where To Buy Fitvine Wine

Fitvine Wines Have Less Sugar Than Most Wines

FitVine Wine: To Health Conscious People Who Want To Drink Wine While Staying In Shape
Locals Tom Beaton and Mark Warren teamed up to create low-sugar, high-ABV and zero-additive wines that also give back to our country.

Theres a new line of wines that have much less sugar than your average bottle. FitVine wines are created by Tom Beaton of Newport, and Mark Warren from nearby Needham, Massachusetts. As avid fitness enthusiasts, they were looking for adult beverages they could enjoy with less sugar and no additives.

When they couldnt find what they were looking for, they decided to make it happen their way in the wine category. We were getting past our forties and trying to stay somewhat fit. We stopped drinking beer years ago, and we had been really into wine, Warren says. The goal was to create the cleanest wine we could with super low sugar, low tannins, low sulfates, no flavor additives, and still have alcohol in it.

FitVine wines have the least amount of sugar, a higher alcohol by volume and zero flavor additives, while also giving back to our country. Founders Mark and Tom are helping families through the Navy Seal Foundation and their FitVine Red Zinfandel gives $5 of each bottle sold straight to the foundation.

Now the wines are available in thirteen varietals in all fifty states, plus Canada and the Caribbean. Its driven by consumers asking for the brand at Whole Foods and calling other regions and asking them to carry it, Warren says, adding that his preferences are the cabernet sauvignon for red and sauvignon blanc for white.

Thrive Market Wine Prices

Both Thrive Market and FitVine are affordably priced. But to compare total pricing accurately, you have to consider shipping costs.

At Thrive Market its free if you order $79 or more in wine alone . Thrive Market also has an annual membership fee, but amortized across all your wine purchases, it would only add a nominal amount.

FitVine provides free shipping if you order 12 or more bottles at once. Even at the cheapest price of $15.99 that totals $191.88, so its not going to be as affordable as Thrive Market on the shipping front.

All that is moot if you find it at your local wine store of course.

Fitvine Wine Now Available At Bed Bath & Beyond And Cost Plus World Market

They began with sourcing the cleanest ingredients and an extended proprietary fermentation process. As a result, their clean great-tasting wines have no flavor additives, less sugar and fewer sulfites compared to competitors. What Makes Fitvine Different

Cabernet Sauvignon Red Wine

Most clean wine companies very tightly manage the production process so that fewer undesirable compounds get into the wine in the first place.

FitVine seems to do a bit of this, but they also have a proprietary process for filtering and removing contaminants from the wine.

Thats likely why their prices are so affordable, its probably easier to filter out contaminants than to never introduce them in the first place. FitVine filters without losing any of the alcohol content, which could be a pro or a con depending on what youre looking for.

Pros And Cons Of Fitvine Wines

FitVine is one of the more popular clean wine options , and like any other service, it has its own set of advantages and disadvantages.

Pros:

  • Clean wines in general are great and deliver on their promise. I definitely felt a difference after drinking these wines vs. my regular wines .
  • You can buy them in physical stores if they are carried in your area, which reduces the wait time to get them.
  • All their wine options are affordable.
  • They leave the alcohol percentage of the original wine intact.

Cons:

  • They leave the alcohol percentage of the original wine intact. Some people look for lower alcohol wines.
  • Theres a basic nutritional breakdown on each wine, which is mostly to detail the lack of sugar, but doesnt seem to be a lot of other lab testing.
  • No ability to sort by features .
  • The flavor of the wines is just ok. They all taste about like what they are supposed to given their grape of origin, but these are not wines for enthusiasts.

The FitVine proprietary process for filtering and cleaning up the wines results in fewer tannins, histamines, additives, sulfites and less sugar, all while keeping the alcohol percentage intact.

This is in contrast to a service like Dry Farm Wines, which specifically touts the lower alcohol content of their wine.

Again, all of these choices that FitVine has made about the product seem to be targeted to a demographic of consumers that want affordable, healthier wine that still produces a buzz and is of acceptable but not exceptional quality.

What Is Clean Wine

Like most products that have been mass produced and tweaked to appease the palate of the masses, wine has changed a lot over the years.

One of those changes was that they started adding sugar to it . So wine that originally would have fit a low-carb diet no longer does.

There are also contaminants in modern wines like pesticides, herbicides, and sulfitesall of which can make you feel sluggish at a bare minimum.

As I mentioned above, Ive been testing out various clean wines for myself. I have been shocked at what a difference drinking clean wine makes.

Clean wines, almost without exception, seem to have no meaningful effect on my body .

I mean, theres still a little buzz to be had, as youd expect of any wine. But theres no hangover, no sluggishness the next day.

I wake the next day feeling like I drank nothing but grape juice, and thats an incredible difference.

An Affordable & More Interesting Alternative

Another service I tried recently was the wine section at Thrive Market. Thrive Market is an online grocery store that caters to any dietary restrictions you might have.

Their wine service is similar to FitVine in the sense that you choose wines a la carte, but different in that the selection is broader and more interesting.

All of the Thrive Market wines are organic and chosen by a master sommelier for their taste, quality and sustainability. You can also go farther in filtering the wines to your taste and diet.

Thrive Market allows you to filter the wines by:

  • No Added Sweeteners
  • Certifications
  • Farm type
  • Vegan
  • Brand
  • Average customer rating

Bonus: All Your Other Groceries

Wines are only one aspect of Thrive Market. If youre a health-conscious person who sticks to a diet that is strict in some waywhich you likely do if youre interested in FitVinethen youll find a LOT to like about Thrive Market.

You can filter ALL their products by factors that are important to you. Their whole selection is similar to a normal grocery store, with packaged food, frozen food, meat, supplements, health and beauty products. They have everything except fresh produce basically.

So youre getting a ton of value beyond just the clean wines. For this reason, I think Thrive Market is a far better value.

So what makes FitVine’s nutrition info look a bit different? The longer grapes stay on the vine as they grow, the more natural sugar they produce. Fermentation can also impact the amount of sweetness left in a bottle of wine. FitVine grapes are plucked earlier than most and fermented longer to allow the yeast that the grapes age with to “eat” more of the sugars, resulting in a drier, lower-sugar wine. A typical glass of red wine has about 0.9 grams of sugar, while a glass of white wine has about 1.4 grams, per the United States Department of Agriculture’s FoodData Nutrition Database.

What My Friends Said

My wine score did not match up with my friends this time around, which makes sense because everyone has different wine preferences! Heres what my friends thought of the wine we sipped

Chardonney

Chardonnay is my go to wine, always. This is eh. It has the after toungue tingle of a normal chardonnay, but tastes lighter. I would chose to drink this in the beach, pool or watching the Bachelorette alone, but not at a house party or nice restaurant.

Pinot Noir

A good, solid red. Id drink this anywhere, anytime.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Stronger tannins throughout. Steak.

Sauvignon Blanc

Tastes more like wine than the chard. I would invite this wine to a house party and would chose it if it was on a happy hour menu on a patio.

Other Feedback

If I were going to a party and wanted to bring a bottle, I would not be embarrassed to bring either of the reds.

Given that these are all diet wines or healthy winesthat changes the perspective. If I was in the mood to drink, or was day drinking all day, FitVine here I come. In other words, its good.

I loved the reds, on target as far as the taste I expect from a Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. The whites struck me as lighter versions of what I expected, but Im a Pinot Grigio drinker so wasnt surprised when I didnt gravitate as much towards the whites the Chardonney and Sauvignon Blanc. Id say fewer calories and less sugar, the reds are a good bet.

Our Favorite Fitvine Wines

Id say our favorites are the Syrah, Rose, and Pinot Grigio. Our red wine friend loves their Holiday Red.

The only one we know wed skip is the Chardonnay. Its not for us, but we also had another friend try it just to make sure. She wasnt crazy about it either.

The Sauvignon Blanc is somewhere in the middle of the road for us. We love a strong grapefruit flavor, and FitVines packs a little bit of that grapefruit which we love.
