Where To Buy Cat Wine

Don't Miss

Mirabeau Pure Provence Ros 2015

I Bought a CAT WINE for My Cat

We know you should never judge a wine by its bottle, but Mirabeau’s decision to ditch a label in favour of engraving their name directly on the bottle earns them some serious design points. The wine inside lives up to the outside, with a satin textured finish and strawberry notes. Uncork whenever and wherever, this wine is great for all occasions.

Catena Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2014

In fact, don’t this wine is too good to waste for that. Rich with tropical fruit, serve on its own or with snacks. Snacks are always a good idea.

5 GREAT BENEFITS OF FISH OIL FOR DOGS AND CATS

  • EPA, one of the two omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil, acts as an anti-inflammatory. It will help with any condition that causes inflammation of the heart, kidneys, skin, and jointssuch as arthritis.
  • It will ease inflammation due to allergies, and reduce itchy skin and dandruff. This can also be an effective way to potentially decrease the incidence of hot spots on your pet.
  • Like many fat supplements, it promotes a shiny, healthy coat, and reduces shedding.
  • DHA, the other omega-3 fatty acid in fish oil, is important in brain and eye development in puppies and kittens. Giving fish oil to pregnant or nursing pets can benefit the babies once they’re born.
  • In some studies, fish oil has slowed the growth of cancer. Though more studies are needed to reach conclusive results, some veterinarians recommend it for any pets with cancer.

Will Cat Wine Make My Cat Drunk

Cat wine can make it seem like your kitty companion is drunk. But again, that’s not because there’s actually any alcoholit’s all thanks to the catnip.

RELATED: What Does Catnip Do to Cats?

When we think of catnip, our first thought is likely of the green herb that seems to suddenly turn our cats into parkour athletes who’ve just downed an energy drink. With cat wine, the catnip herb’s oils are extracted and blended with water and vitamins, making it a cat-safe treat that might seem like he’s had a sip of the real stuff.

Your cat’s reaction to cat wine can depend on whether he ingests it or not, according to PetWineShop’s website. If ingested, it will act as a mild sedative, ultimately having the same effects as sleepy time tea. If not ingested , it’ll have similar effects as regular catnipincreased playfulness, hyperactivity, etc.

OAKLAND, Calif. Why drink alone when you can drink with your pet?

The question comes from two competing start-ups in the unlikely product category of faux wine for cats that comes in miniature bottles with cutesy names. No alcohol is involved . But already the company that brought its products to market first, Apollo Peak which calls itself the original cat winery is accusing its newer competitor, Pet Winery, of being a copycat.

Both ran discount promotions for Valentines Day. Both have come up with clever names for their products: For $11.95, people can buy Fluffy an 8-ounce bottle of Catbernet or Pinot Meow from Apollo Peak, which is based in Denver.

Or for $14.95, they can pour 12 ounces of Meow & Chandon from Pet Winery of Fort Myers, Fla.

Since alcohol can harm cats, these products are essentially catnip water, which can make a cat loopy and an owner happy.

But based on a wine tasting I conducted at a local cat cafe-slash-adoption center, the products are primarily catnip for the owners: The shelter cats did not like wines from either company only two of them indulged but the people visiting the tastings loved the concept.

Thats the greatest thing ever, said Savannah Thrasher, 23, a medical biller who was at the Cat Town Café here. It would be good if my cat can enjoy wine with me, she said.

Cat wines are the latest manifestation of a growing trend of pet owners treating them like people.

    The Competition Moves In

In July 2016, Taryn Nahm, 31, who previously sold advertising, and her boyfriend, Kai Pfretzschner, 37, a chemist, started a cat wine company which they now call Pet Winery. Their wines, also in tiny bottles, are sold online and in 40 stores they are made in Pfretzschner’s lab.

Zavala is not amused, but Nahm is unapologetic.

“Apollo Peak doesn’t get to own the market,” Nahm said. “We have our own viewpoints,” she said, and their own recipes. “We did salmon oil with catnip,” she said.

Zavala sees it a bit differently. “I don’t mind competition,” he said, “but they have cloned our products.”

Both companies have expanded into the dog wine market: Apollo Peak brews chamomile and peppermint in water. Pet Winery adds salmon oil and bacon extract.

Let’s be honest. Cat’s are finicky. Only about 65% of cats have a sensitivity to the smell of catnip so it’s possible that they won’t be immediately drawn to the drink. We suggest serving the wine room-temperature as cats tend to not like cold beverages.

Nyan Nyan Nouveau Japanese Wine For Cats May Be Dangerous

Japanese pet supply company B& H Lifes is selling “wine exclusively for cats,” according to Kotaku’s translation of Japanese news site Sankei Biz.

“Nyan Nyan Nouveau” doesn’t actually contain any alcohol — it’s a concoction made primarily of of grape juice, Vitamin C and catnip. But just because it’s non-alcoholic doesn’t mean the product is safe. Grapes and raisins are known to cause kidney failure in dogs, and some evidence suggests they may have the same effect on cats. So while we love the idea of drinking with our feline companions, it’s safest to steer clear of any products made out of grapes.

This article has been updated to reflect that grape products may be dangerous for cats.

A Colorado-based company has launched the worlds first wine for cats – a fruity and non-alcoholic cocktail thats designed so that you can enjoy a glass of vino alongside your fluffy, four-legged companion.

The wines, made by the company Apollo Peak, come in two varieties – Pinot Meow and MosCATo – and according to its founder Brandon Zavola, have already been approved by local vets in the Denver area.

    Howell Mountain Napa Valley

The Howell Mountain AVA is host to renowned vineyards that produce some of Napas most highly acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel. These vineyards are characterized by a westward-facing orientation, which provides extended sun exposure, and volcanic, well-drained soils. This combination creates small, uniform grapes with robust flavors, resulting from an ideal balance of grape clusters and leaf canopy.

The Zinfandel vineyard grows on a steep slope, with vines nearly 100 years old and stalks as thick as tree trunks. By any measure, this is an extraordinary Zinfandel vineyard. With no irrigation and careful cultivation, the vines are true survivors, consistently producing a small quantity of highly nuanced fruit each year.

The Urge To Spoil Our Pets

Robert Vetere, the head of the American Pet Products Association, a trade group, said that Gounalis’ sentiment is an increasingly common one.

“We no longer reward our pets in animal terms,” he said. “We feel the need to reward our pets in human terms.”

For instance, “Suddenly, a tennis ball for our dog is not enough,” Vetere said. Pet lovers are buying “high-cost collars, and premium bedding and other human-based rewards.”

Not all cats are attracted to catnip or flavoured drinks.

“Cats in the wild don’t drink that much – 75 per cent of their hydration comes from their food,” said Jackson Galaxy, the host and executive producer of the Animal Planet show My Cat From Hell.

He said cat wines were silly but “if they bring people closer to cats, then they can’t be all bad”.

Is Cat Wine Safe For Cats

“Cat wine is safe for cats to ingest as it is usually made with beet juice, catnip, and natural preservatives,” Travis McDermott, DVM of Durango Animal Hospital, tells Daily Paws. Cat wine is made with catnip, so if your cat doesn’t respond well to the herb, hold off on the cat wine.

Even if your cat responds well to cat wine, that doesn’t mean they need to have large amounts of it daily.

“As with any treat, it should be enjoyed with moderation, but in small amounts can be given to your cat daily,” McDermott tells Daily Paws.

    What Is Catnip

    • Catnip is a perennial herb that is a member of the mint family.
    • The chemical compound in the plant that attracts and affects cats is called nepetalactone. It is found in the leaves and stems.
    • Nepetalactone is a stimulant when sniffed by a cat, producing a “high” with effects that last for about 10 minutes before wearing off and the cat returning to normal behavior.
