I started at Garys in Wayne in 2013, then I joined Madison in 2019! Working at Garys has opened my passion for food, wine, spirits, and especially beers! During my down time, I like to get lost in books, video games, and brew my own beer! Opening my own brewery is one of my biggest goals in life. When it comes to my favorite drink, it all depends on the weather or mood. My go tos are Spanish reds, Pinot Noir, Rieslings, Microbrews, Scotch, and Bourbon!

Theyre Easier And Lighter To Ship Helping Winemakers Reduce Their Carbon Footprints Are Consumers Ready

Wine drinkers have become accustomed to seeing new packaging over recent years, whether its screw tops, cans, or boxes. This spring, another shape will hit the shelvesand it might take some getting used to.

The latest packaging innovation looks more like a flask, albeit an upscale one made of recycled plastic. Santiago Navarro, CEO and cofounder of London-based Garçon Wines, plans to launch his 100%-recycled PET flat bottles in the U.S. this spring with a brand called Packamama, a packaging alternative for the domestic wine industry. Packamama will also introduce a proprietary wine brand called Flatworks, created in partnership with Sonomas Ron Rubin Winery. The brand will launch with a Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, priced $15.99 each, with a retail presence in California and direct-to-consumer shipping in 35 states.

Packamamas flat bottles arent the first attempt to address the problem. Over the last decade, many estates started making bottles lighter in an effort cut back on materials and shipping.

In 2015, California-based Jackson Family Wine converted their best-selling Kendall-Jackson and La Crema brands to 14-ounce bottles and immediately saw a 4% reduction in emissions. But executives were concerned about how consumers might perceive the change.

Some retailers also seem eager to serve as gateways to change.

Wine Shop Joins Forces With Justin Razza As Director Of Operations

The Wine Shop Team is excited to introduce our new Director of Operations – Justin Razza.

Having been brought up in an Italian household, wine and food have always played a significant part of Justins life. Believing that dinner is an event and not something that should be rushed or overlooked, he feels that the sense of coming together and breaking bread with one another is the most important part of the day. And when food is in play, wine must also be present a meal without wine is tragic, after all!

With over twenty years of hospitality, food and beverage experience, the last decade of which was right here in the Charleston fine dining scene, Justin has a passion for food and wine pairings that stemmed from his upbringing. His long tenure behind a bar has also given him an extensive knowledge of spirits, which he incorporated into two Prohibition-era novels which focus on the classic cocktails that sprung from those speakeasy days. In addition to his proficiency in uniting a great wine to accompany your meal in a perfect union, the storyteller in him enjoys in sharing with his guests the tales behind the wine bottles and the anecdotes that brought them to life.

Bryce Johnson Corporate Internet/fulfillment Manager

I started my Garys career in 2018 in the Bernardsville location as a full time stock associate. I was then trained in our internet department and enjoyed the whole process. In 2020, after being with the company for 2 years, I was promoted to the Corporate Order Fulfillment Lead position in the Wayne location. Within the next year, the title of manager on duty was added to my job description due to my leadership and management qualities.

I truly enjoy working with the team and look forward to a fulfilling career with Garys Wine and Marketplace.

When I first started drinking, I fell in love with the wide world of beer styles. Shortly after college, I learned some basics about wine by reading Kevin Zralys Windows on the World. That was the catalyst for a growing appreciation of the world of wine. I have now completed my WSET level 2 certification and am learning more and more about wine every day. I love all kinds of wine but my general favorites are from the old world Italy, Spain, and France. I love talking with customers and helping them find a delicious wine for any occasion.

A passion for wine led me to a second career in the industry. Having previously sold wholesale in New York City and New Jersey, I enjoy discussing wine almost as much as I enjoy drinking it. A wine tasting class on an Alaskan cruise opened my eyes up to the wonderful world of wine and spurred a quest for learning as much as I can. I think Spanish wines offer some of the best values you can find and the quality is outstanding.

Event Venue Gardens Planned Near Wine And Cheese Shop On Oleander Drive

Wine store Monument, CO

A new event venue and gardens are set to take shape on the site of a former church behind a wine and cheese shop on Oleander Drive.

The Wilmington City Council unanimously approved a rezoning request for two acres of land along Oleander Drive and Sebrell Avenue during their regular meeting on Jan. 18. They also unanimously voted to waive a second reading of the rezoning request.

The rezoning request was brought before Wilmington leaders by the owners of Wendy’s House, a shop that sells wine, cheese and chocolates at 126 Sebrell Ave. The owners plan to convert a nearby church into an event venue, add more space for parking and to bring a garden to an area behind the existing shop.

The site, which is located at 5823 Oleander Drive and 126 and 122 Sebrell Ave., was rezoned as a community business to allow for the proposed changes. Previously, a portion of the site was zoned as community business while another portion was zoned R-15 residential.

Despite approvals from the Wilmington City Council and Wilmington Planning Commission, city planning staff recommended a denial of the rezoning.

Jeff Walton, an associate planner with the city of Wilmington, told council members they saw other uses would serve as a better transition into the residential neighborhoods off of Oleander Drive.

This is what we want,” he said. “This is what the neighborhood wants.

Duclaw Brewing Co P 443

Dave Benfield, the grand poo-bah of DuClaw Brewing Company, began home brewing beer while in college, presumably for the only reason that guys in college do anything: to meet girls. What originally began as a way for Dave and his friends to supply themselves with beer and female admirers, soon evolved into something more. Upon graduating, Dave accepted a position in his familys business, but continued to hone his ninja-like brewing skills in secret. Despite his best efforts to brew on the down-low, he couldnt hide his obsession from his parents: he was always tired, smelled of spent grain, and mumbled incessantly about carboys and original gravities in his sleep. Instead of staging an intervention, his parents asked if he was thinking about a career change. Uhhhhhyep, he answered hesitantly, and once he convinced his mother to stop crying and his father to untie the noose and climb down from the stool, his golden retriever-like enthusiasm and Steve Jobsian vision won them over. Today, Dave and DuClaw Brewing Company Brewmaster Jim Wagner are the masterminds behind our amazing array of craft brewed beers. The pair have brewed more than 35 unique beers. Giuseppe’s Wine Cellar looks forward to our 2106 Spring Beer Event with DuClaw Brewery.
