Rd Best Dual Zone: Aobosi 24” Dual Zone Fridge 46 Bottle Capacity

The Aobosi 24” Dual Zone Wine Cooler 46 Bottle offers an elegant and convenient design to showcase your wine collection. It is designed to more than just an appliance, which is why we think it serves perfectly as part of your bar or home décor. Best suited to the avid wine collector who loves storing various types of wine, the 46 bottle capacity should be more than enough.

What We Like:

  • Low Operating Noise: The company claims to be using some sort of advanced cooling system which ensures that the unit is quiet and saves energy. During our testing, we only ever heard the cooler hum during the afternoon for some reason and didnt feel that it vibrated much either.
  • A Seamless Design: The use of LED blue right coupled with a stainless steel glass door makes it the best freestanding Wine Refrigerator for any sort of room. Plus the front venting system ensures that the cooler can be easily built into cabinetry or any other location for that matter.
  • Remembered Our Temperature Settings: The Wine Cooler was turned off briefly, and when it was turned back on, it remembered our temperature setting in both zones.
  • Child Lock: We think this is a must-have feature because our kids tend to open the door and never close it properly.

What We Dont Like:

  • It Vibrates: Now this isnt a zero vibration Wine Cooler which is ideally something wed lean more in favor of if you have the budget.

Eurocave Pure Double L Wine Cellar

Ultra-sophisticated temperature and humidity controls are presented with a sleek touchscreen interface in the EuroCave Pure Double L. This is the only cooler today that has adjustable humidity, via a built-in hygrometer and lava-rock cassette. Orange, low-heat LEDs make your collection easy-to-see. A main du sommelier shelving system cradles each bottle, just as a restaurant professional would tableside. Whats not to love?

Rd Best Single Zone: Antarctic Star 36 Bottle Capacity

N

The Antarctic Star Wine Cooler Refrigerator Fridge 36 Bottles Single Zone takes a no-frills approach to keeping your wine cool with reasonable pricing. The Antarctic Star Wine Cooler Refrigerator works like all other coolers, but the emphasis here is on aging wine properly so that you enjoy its full potential.

It is geared towards people who love sipping wine but don’t have a home large enough to accommodate a full blown wine cellar. Whether you are a wine enthusiast or expert, this should more than serve the purpose, and is definitely one of the best in this range.

What We Like:

  • Low Price: Compared to literally dozens of other wine coolers weve tested this one is sanely priced.
  • Removable Shelves: You can easily remove the refrigerator shelves and make room for beer and Champaign if you so desire.
  • Change the Direction of the Door: You can change the way the door opens from the traditional right to left, to left to right.
  • Compact Design: Being compact means that this Wine Refrigerator can be installed anywhere, even under your table!
  • Double Pane Glass: The glass helps to keep harmful UV rays out and maintain ideal humidity levels. Plus the blue LED lighting looks great but ensures that it does not damage the wine.

We Dont Like:

  • Not Many Features: As we said earlier, this is a no-frills model, so it isnt big on features.
  • The metal housing feels cheap: Again, thats something we assume has to do with keeping the price affordable for most people.

  • Who Should Get This

Most people dont need a wine fridge. But if youre buying more good-quality wine than you can imbibe in about a month, you tend to keep a stock of several cases, you regularly buy bottles that cost $30 or more from a reputable source, you want to age wine, or youre considering selling or trading bottles, you should think about getting one. Plus, storing and serving wine at the right temperatures will improve the taste. Levi Dalton, host of the podcast Ill Drink to That, told us, Good storage is going to make the wine-drinking experience better.

Weve drastically changed our approach and recommendations for this guide, moving away from miniature fridges that store about a case or two to medium-size ones that will hold five or six. If you tend to pick up a bottle from the supermarket or liquor store to drink that night or within the next few days, or you dont invest that much money or time in selecting wines to begin with, then you probably dont need a wine fridge.

A wine fridge is more than just extra storage. Its almost like a safe for your collection. A great one will guard against the variables that degrade wine over time: light, heat, vibration, and changes in temperature and humidity. These unseen forces can affect a wines flavor and even ruin it.

You can also store your wine in a cool, temperature-stable space like a basement. If it tends to be damp, however, you may want to get a dehumidifier because moisture can destroy labels .

    Flaws But Not Dealbreakers

N’FINITY PRO HDX Dual Zone Wine Cellar

This is a standalone wine fridge, so you cant build it into cabinets. That said, Wine Enthusiast sells other models that can be built in. The Classic 80 also has a rear vent, so youll need to install it where theres ample ventilation space around the fridge .

All wine fridges hold less than what they say they will, and the Classic 80 is no different. Tilden told us that certain upgrade Wine Enthusiast fridges offer shelves with more space to fit larger bottles, and we cover these in the Competition section.

Technically, you can reverse the handle on the Classic 80, but you will lose the lock function because you essentially will have to turn the door upside down.

There arent a ton of reviews for this fridge, and people on forums like Wine Berserkers and Reddit dont have much to say about the line . If you have any feedback on this fridge, please let us know in our comments section below.

    Fridges From Other Notable Brands

Several experts and people in the Wine Berserkers forum like Danby and Avanti wine fridges. But reviews of the now-discontinued Danby model thats similar in size to our picks report that the fridge doesnt hold temperature, and it can freeze wine. Avanti makes fridges that we think are too small or too large for entry-level collectors. But it does offer a five-year warranty for the compressor on most models .

Some appliance brands, such as Sub-Zero, Hestan, and JennAir, have great reputations, but their wine fridges are very expensive and are often meant to be built in.

Although people on the Wine Berserkers forum like Le Cache luxury cabinets, none of the experts we spoke with recommended these. For the price, we think youll be better off with our highly rated upgrade pick, the EuroCave Premiere S.

    Wine Coolers And Refrigerators

Before we dive into our best wine coolers & refrigerator selections, lets start by answering a very common question, i.e., whats the difference between a cooler and a wine refrigerator?

Most people have no idea which is better or what to buy. To make matters worse, both terms are often used interchangeably since they both refer to a temperature-controlled appliance for storing wine.

    Wine Refrigerators

    • Wine refrigerators will generally maintain an internal temperature of around 35 degrees Fahrenheit and extract moisture. Which is why food in a refrigerator dries out, but when it comes to wine, that isnt a desirable effect. Typically, a wine fridge should ideally maintain between 50-60 degrees and allow for around 50% humidity.

    Wine Coolers

    • Wine coolers, on the other hand, dont have moving parts, and hence dont generate any vibrations. Wine coolers are smaller, lighter, and hence more portable. Wine coolers use whats called thermoelectric technology.
    • Wine Coolers do not dry out the wine corks making them more desirable for storing wine. The technology works by mainly drawing out the heat from the bottles of wine instead of cooling them down like a regular fridge would do.

    Best Wine Coolers & Refrigerators

    N

Single zones can be set to a single temperature, and that temperature is maintained across the entire appliance. Theyre best for people who only drink and store a certain type of wine .

    For instance:

    • If you only buy and stock white wine, then your entire stock can be stored at a precise 52 degrees.
    • If its red, then 60 degrees is ideal. .

The temperature with all the best models below is adjustable and well maintained.

What Determines The Kind Of Wine Cellar Cooling Unit That Is Most Appropriate For Your Wine Cellar

A number of factors will determine the best wine cooling unit for you.

    A simplistic initial approach….

FIRST – determine size of your wine cellar in cubic feet

SECOND – Do you have an adjacent climate controlled room equal size or larger than the wine cellar in which to use a simple “Through the wall” system. This allows the most options, please see first chart below. Please keep in mind that ALL through the wall cooling units will have some heat and noise at the back of the cooling unit into adjacent space. If this is not acceptable, this may be reason to look at a ducted or split system.

Depending on your situation, you may need a Through the wall system for inside application or for outside application. You may also need a split system or ducted system. Keep in mind that a ducted system may allow for ducting of the cold air, the hot air or both.

What Temperature To Store Wines In A Wine Fridge

The best temperature at which to set your wine fridge directly correlates with the temperature you plan to serve your wine, Brady says. For our restaurants , I typically store everything between 51-54 degrees. At this temperature, we know the wine is healthy and its a great temperature to pivot from in both directions. Some people, like Thompson, prefer to keep different types of wine at different temperatures so you can serve them directly from the fridge rather than chilling them down more before serving. He keeps rosè, white, and sparkling at 45-50 degrees, and stores reds around 60 degrees.
