Martha’s Chard Wine

Don't Miss

How Long Does 19 Crimes The Banished Last

MARTHA’S CHARD – 19 Crimes California Chardonnay Review [Best Wine Under $20]

As a classic Australian red blend, 19 Crimes The Banished is perfect for long-term aging. It is one of those types of wines that can be safely stored away and uncorked after a few years. In the meantime, it will have developed a myriad more aromatic characteristics. As an off-dry red, it is ideal for aging. The bottle should be sealed with a cork and stored at a constant temperature and humidity. Direct sunlight or artificial light should also be kept away as they may spoil the wine. My recommendation would be to not store 19 Crimes The Banished for more than 4-5 years as the flavors will start to deteriorate.

They say never judge a bottle of wine by its label, but in the case of 19 Crimes, the wrapping carries a unique bit of history you wont want to miss.

Introduced in 2012, 19 Crimes became the newest member of the Treasury Wine Estates portfolio, quickly accelerating into a world-wide phenomenon. And its no wonder wine lovers were intrigued since the entire brand is centered on an unexpected theme criminals.

The brand brings a bit of debauchery back to wine with a collection of eight bottles featuring criminals accused of one of 19 different crimes. A true fan of the brand will want to collect each bottle to appreciate each story living on through the wine.

Is 19 Crimes Cabernet Sauvignon A Good Wine

Overall, I think 19 Crimes Cabernet Sauvignon is a good sipping wine with a fun story.

Its somewhat light, almost like a Pinot Noir, and has a bit of sweetness like from a blend that might include Zinfandel.

Though I was unable to find out if this wine was straight Cabernet or not, I suspect it wasnt.

From my experience, I suspect this wine may also have some Zinfandel, Merlot and/or Petite Syrah in it.

But, I dont know for sure.

With that said, I believe most people would enjoy it and I did, as well.

Plus, its a decent under $10 value.

19 Crimes Cabernet Sauvignon price $9.99.

Overall Opinion Of Marthas Chard

Overall, I really enjoyed this Chardonnay!

This is the third 19 Crimes wine Ive tasted and so far, none have disappointed.

What I liked most about Marthas Chard was the complex and enjoyable flavor.

While the aroma was lovely, it was fairly muted and it was really the wines palate that stole the show.

I think most people would enjoy this wine.

It starts off with a short sweetness that gets reinstated with a fresh pour, but then lets all its acidic and minerality complexities come through.

Crimes Marthas Chard 2020

January 17, 2022 by Domaine Dave

The 19 Crimes Marthas Chard 2020 is a California Chardonnay from the Australian wine label 19 Crimes. The 19Crimes referenced in the brand name are the number of offenses that would get a criminal in Great Britain deported to the Australian penal colony. The label embraces Australias heritage with a photo and a short history of some of the original deportees.

19 Crimes has updated its outlaw image with Snoop Dogg wines. Snoop did some time early on before The Chronic shot him to the Big Time. In keeping with the jailbird motif they now have a , she did three months for insider trading.

The 19 Crimes wines showcased Australian grapes in the past but the Snoop and Martha wines are sourced from vineyards in California. I thought the Snoop Dogg wines were solid and enjoyable value-priced wines and a figure Martha knows what the Chardonnay crowd likes.

Treasury Wine Estates owns the 19 Crimes brand, they have a large wine brand portfolio, their brands include Penfolds, BV, and Beringer. They have extensive, quality California vineyard holdings, so the 19 Crimes Marthas Chard 2020 should be a very drinkable Chardonnay.

What Is The Famous Wine Region Featured In The Movie Sideways

Thats Santa Barbara.

The greatest attribute of Sideways is that it promoted Pinot Noir, which became very popular because of the movie.

The region of Santa Barbara offers a great variety of unique tasting options with over 120 different wineries to choose from. This region is off-the-beaten-track, but should not be underestimated. Sideways drew much-needed attention to this region and all that it has to offer.

The Uprising Rum Aged Red Wine

2020 19 Crimes Martha’s Chard (Chardonnay) Wine Review

This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Shiraz showcase the best grapes of Australia, and luscious, dark wine. This particular variation is aged in rum barrels for 30 days, giving the wine a sticky sweetness on the finish, and lovely vanilla aromas.

Its an homage to Australias Rum Rebellion of 1808 and a unique little taste of history. As one might expect, this wine is also quite high in alcohol, giving it a punchy, liquor flavor that cuts the rich sweetness. Its a wonderful aperitif or accent to bold, spicy food.

Pros and Cons

In addition to being a collection of wine with mass appeal, 19 Crimes is also a great value for the everyday wine drinker. Consumers can often find the bottles for less than indicated as the typical retail price, with the wines averaging $9 $13 at a national brand store like Total Wine & More.

What you get inside the bottle is a great value as well. The wines are grown in the prime regions of viniculture in Australia, primarily the South and the area known as Victoria. The cool, coastal climate in Victoria lends itself well to Pinot Noir, a soft, light grape, while the heat of the South produces rich, plump Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.

19 Crimes are amongst the many brands sourcing top quality grapes from Australia, and the unique blends featured in the line highlight the best of the best.

As a value brand, it is also to be expected that this wine is not going to be extremely complex, or necessarily impressive to well-tuned palettes.

New World Vs Old World

California Chardonnays, renowned the world over, are typically richer and heftier than those white Burgundies, and they’re likely to be oaked, sometimes to a staggering degree, but they too can vary wildly, from young wines with mouthwatering acidity, to wines with a heavy mouth feel and notes of vanilla. “It’s difficult to generalize each region into one style, particularly an area like California, since wines coming from the Sonoma Coast are markedly different than those coming from the valley floor in Napa or the Santa Rita Hills,” says Kendall. More heavily oaked, with riper fruit and dominant fruit characters, Australian Chardonnay is on something of a parallel. The New World wines are oftentimes higher in alcohol, too.

Crimes South Eastern Australia Red Wine 2020

This Charming Man

So, enough about the label and branding, whats the wine like? It pours a medium intensity cherry red, implying that this is no blockbuster red. One website I found listed the varieties as Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Grenache, and Cabernet Sauvignon, and its the middle two grapes which give it the lighter hue.

The nose initially hits you with sweet vanilla, under which blackberries and fudge compete for attention. The palate is rich, full of vanilla and toasty oak, cherries, chocolate, dark berries, spice and caramel. I dont have a tech sheet but the richness is obviously partly due to a good dose of residual sugar.

Similar to the Dada Art Series 1 I reviewed back in 2017, this is a wine made for pleasure and designed to match what many people actually like drinking. Most wine drinkers especially in the Irish market will swear blind that they only like dry wines, but if theres an off-dry finish to a red wine like this they wont complain if theyre not told and dont notice themselves.

For my personal taste, this wine is a little too confected and clumsy. But Im not the target market, and I suspect that most people who buy it will like it which is exactly the point!

The Lifestyle Icon Has Joined Snoop Dogg In Partnering With 19 Crimes A Growing Wine Label

Frequent collaborators Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg have joined forces with the 19 Crimes wine label.

19 Crimes , $11.99

The back story

You know Martha Stewart as a television personality, an author and an all-around lifestyle and business icon. But now, shes also a wine guru.

Stewart has moved increasingly into the world of vino of late. She started a wine company the Martha Stewart Wine Co., to be exact a few years ago. And now, she has partnered with 19 Crimes, a label that launched in 2012, on a Chardonnay, which is indeed simply called Marthas Chard. Its perhaps a perfect fit in that 19 Crimes already has a partnership with Snoop Dogg, a frequent Stewart collaborator.

The 19 Crimes team said they wanted to work with Stewart because of her creative style and ties to Snoop. The labels name refers to the British convicts who were banished to Australia for any of 19 particular crimes in other words, people who were often rebels who beat the odds and overcame adversity to become folk heroes, the 19 Crimes folks say. In the labels view, that spirit lives on through innovators like Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart.

Its perhaps no surprise that 19 Crimes and Stewart chose a Chardonnay for their collaboration. The varietal remains a solid favorite a recent report noted that it is the second most popular white-wine varietal on the alcohol-ordering platform Drizly, accounting for 25.3% of white-wine sales. Still, the report noted that growth is slowing.

How To Serve 19 Crimes The Banished

Wine Insiders

19 Crimes The Banished is a characteristic example of Australias red blends and should be served at room temperature, approximately 60 degrees Fahrenheit . This red wine will not benefit from chilling in any way. As a red dry wine, a larger-sized wine glass would help immensely to allow the air to come into contact with the wine surface and release its aromatic and flavor intensity. Decanting is a good option as the wine would benefit from additional aeration.

One Grape Many Styles

“Chardonnay is an amazing grape in that it can grow, produce, and even thrive in so many different climates. There aren’t many other varietals that can do that, which is why we see so many different styles of Chardonnay,” explains Kendall. The profusion of styles can also make it somewhat confusing for people perusing the shelves at the wine store you may like a Chardonnay from one region, but from another, not so much. “It’s a varietal that can be susceptible to winemaking style, responding strongly to oak, secondary fermentation, aging approaches, sugar levels, ripeness levels, and other ways of manipulation,” she says.

The success of these famous regions within the Bay area is largely to do with the sound soil composition and ideal climatic conditions. Each region is fortunate to have a wide range of temperatures and soil types, allowing the brilliant variety of grapes to thrive here.

The 19 Crimes Marthas Chard 2020 Tasting Notes

The color is a pale wheat yellow. The nose is lemon, apple, pear, honey, melon, pineapple, light spice, with a floral edge. The 19 Crimes Marthas Chard 2020 a sleek, tasty Chardonnay with as much happening on the mid-palate as on the body of the wine.

This Chardonnay tastes like green apple, lemon, orange blossom honey, and butterscotch. The mid-palate adds peach mixed with lime, melon, a salty/nutty on-lees sensation, and nectarine and guava. The acidity gives this Chardonnay excellent length, the flavors roll on and on.
