Mexico-based fast-casual restaurant-slash-artisan-market Ojo de Agua will open its second U.S. location in River Oaks District soon. “The decision to choose River Oaks District as Ojo de Aguas first Texas location was not a difficult one, said Rafael Montero, partner at Texas-based Gitano Capital, in a statement. We think that our fresh, wholesome ingredients and flavorful dishes will resonate with a global clientele in one of the foremost dining and shopping destinations in Houston as we seek to establish a solid foundation from which to build and grow our brand stateside.

Expect fresh juices, acai bowls, salads, burgers and other all-day fare the retail portion touts fresh produce, salsas and other essentials inspired by the restaurants menu. The colorful, open-air markets of Mexico inspired the interior design of Ojo de Agua, with unique elements like light fixtures made from milk-bottle crates, and vibrant, hand-painted murals.

Telling a good murder mystery in this day and age requires a lot of skill given the long history of the genre. Masters like Agatha Christie, Alfred Hitchcock, and others have done it so well that any new attempt must bring something new to the table in order to stand out.

The hook of new film See How They Run is that its actually set around the original production of Christies The Mousetrap in Londons West End in the 1950s. The play, celebrating its 100th performance, is being feted with a party attended by the cast, including star Richard Attenborough , producer Meryn Cocker-Norris , and director of the potential movie adaptation, Leo Köpernick .

When a person at the party is murdered, naturally everyone there becomes a suspect. Officials from Scotland Yard, including Constable Stalker and Inspector Stoppard , start an investigation, one that is hampered by Stalker’s lack of experience and overly eager personality, as well Stoppards perpetual drunkenness and generally surly attitude.

Directed by Tom George and written by Mark Chappell, both of whom are making their feature film debuts, the movie plays out as an overly clever version of a murder mystery. Köpernick starts the film with a voiceover that makes fun of murder mystery stereotypes while the film adheres to those very same stereotypes. This self-awareness continues throughout the film, providing the occasional slight chuckle but little else.

Kendra Scott has built a jewelry empire over the last 20 years, but today she is exploring a new avenue for her bespoke brand. For the first time, Scott has collaborated with an influencer for her latest collection.

Scott teamed up with Emily Travis, commonly known as @champagneandchanel to create the ultimate bridal collection. Travis was inspired by her recent bridal experience and knew bridal jewelry would be the perfect theme for the collaboration.

Like many women, Travis has been a huge Kendra Scott fan for as long as she can remember, and could not be more proud to have worked alongside jewelry and entrepreneur powerhouse on this collection.

Kendra Scott And Buzzy Austin Blogger Unveil New Bridal Capsule Collection

Two Austin-based female powerhouses have launched an exclusive collaborative bridal collection. Popular jewelry designer and philanthropist Kendra Scott and Austin lifestyle blogger Emily Travis of Champagne & Chanel co-designed the collection, marking the first-ever influencer-designed partnership for the brand. As Travis is a dedicated wearer of the brand, Scotts line has been with Travis during monumental moments in her life. While on her own wedding journey, Travis couldnt imagine celebrating her special day without Kendra Scott and had a vision of what she wanted for her bridal party: timelessness. Beloved Eatery Adds Third Location

A plant-based bowl at Hungry’s

For the first time in 40 years, Hungrys will open a new location, this time in Tanglewood. Hungrys Woodway will, of course, tout the family-owned restaurants greatest hits, but it will also explore new territory first broached by its sister concept, Heartbeet, which serves nourishing and tasty plant-based food.

We like to think of this new location as the best of our menus, said Hungrys VP Nousha Nowamooz in a statement. With an increased request for a variety of plant-based dishes, this outpost will have a more vegetable-rich approach with a more modern, tailored menu.

The Tanglewood outpost, complete with a dog-friendly patio, will open early next year.

In 2021 Kendra Scott stepped down as CEO of her eponymous jewelry company, but she has not stopped making waves in the accessories industry. Her company, composed of nearly 98% women, launched its first-ever influencer-designed collaboration this spring. Scott tapped Austin-based influencer Emily Travis of Champagne and Chanel to co-design a capsule bridal collection that debuted in March with a meet and greet at the brand’s South Congress flagship store.

“The Kendra Scott team is thrilled to have Emily be our first-ever influencer collaboration. The launch has been an incredible success,” says Scott. “We kicked off this collaboration with Emily’s meet-and-greet event. It gathered a huge crowd with a line wrapped around the block full of people eager to purchase the new product.”

“I wore Kendra Scott throughout college, and if you told me I would get to design a wedding collection with her, there’s no way I would have believed it,” says Travis.

During the design process, Scott encouraged Travis to take inspiration from all aspects of her wedding. What came of that advice is a piece they are both proud of – the Cameron Statement Earring. The earring effortlessly transitions from a formal showstopper to a stud with a unique detachable piece for more casual wear.

A longtime location of La Madeleine, the Dallas-based French-inspired bakery and cafe, has closed. It’s the location at 3906 Lemmon Ave. and it closed on October 6.

The closure, news of which first circulated on Facebook, was originally framed as temporary. The restaurant posted a note on its door stating that it was “temporarily closed,” and a representative from the building management said that the restaurant experienced a plumbing leak and that crews were on site making repairs.

But a La Madeleine spokesperson said in a statement that the chain had made “the difficult decision” to close that location for good, thanking customers for their patronage and directing them to nearby cafes on Mockingbird Lane and Park District.

The Lemmon Avenue cafe opened shortly after the 1983 opening of the original location by SMU, and served as a reliable destination for residents in the area and employees at nearby businesses.

Its convenient location and ample parking lot made it a popular meet-up spot. They also had a sizable event room that they made available for free to neighborhood organizations, homeowners association meetings, and the like.

The company also partnered with Walmart on a new prototype concept called La Madeleine Express, featuring fan favorites like Chicken Caesar Salad and Tomato Basil Soup, as well as new items including pizzas, created specifically for its Walmart locations.

Travis says she’s been supporting the brand for years and that it made sense to collaborate since Kendra Scott has been with her for some of the biggest moments in her life, like her wedding.

“Getting the chance to design a collection with Kendra Scott has definitely been one of the biggest “pinch me” moments of my life,” says Travis in a news release. “This collection is very special to me because its inspired by the happiest daymy wedding. I am so proud and honored to have my name on each of these pieces and I hope you love them as much as I do!”

The capsule bridal collection, named after female figures in Travis’s life, features a variety of classic shapes like emerald and round cut crystals and timeless designs, including dainty drop earrings, tennis bracelets, and necklaces. The pieces range from $58 to $148.

In addition to creating keepsake styles, Travis says she wanted to design versatile pieces that could be worn not just for black tie affairs but more casually every day. When co-designing the collection, Scott encouraged Travis to incorporate other elements from the big day, such as floral arrangements.
