Some companies do grow the fruit and make the wine, sometimes they even do it all in one place. In that case, the wine is an estate wine. Although hard liquors such as vodka, bourbon, whiskey, gin, and scotch are made from glutenous grains, they are actually made gluten free through the rigorous distillation process.

So basically even though some liquors are made with gluten, after distillation, all the gluten is removed from the final product.

Wine is usually gluten-free wines, but that only means that its gluten content is below the FDA approved the amount. Which means less than 20 parts per million. This number is quite low, so many people with gluten intolerance can view it as gluten-free.

As a member of BzzAgent I get to try new products and report back on my honest opinion. Since both my hubby and I have been exploring new wines lately I jumped at the chance to be part of this BzzAgent Campaign. After reviewing the types of wines Black Box offered we decided to try the Reisling however my trip to Publix yielded no Reisling since this kind was not on the shelf. I opted to try the Pinot Grigio for $23.99 per box instead. I have really enjoyed other Pinot Griogios by other wine makers so I had high hopes. After we let the wine chill for 24 hours we decided to try it out.

Yes, all wine is gluten free!

Most wine tends to be gluten free from an ingredients perspective. The only time wine may be suspect to glutenous ingredients or cross contamination is from the wheat paste/sealant used in wine barrels.

This sealant sometimes tend to leak into the wine thus cross contaminating the wine.

However, most wineries are starting to remove this paste from their barrels.

So if you do have any questions about whether or not a wine contains gluten, its advised to contact the winery directly to see if their wines or barrels contain any wheat or glutenous ingredients.

The popular beer brands you know and love are not gluten free. This includes the likes of Budweiser/Bud Light, Miller, Coors, Blue Moon, Stella Artois, Corona, and Michelob just to name a few.

What? I have always read and been told that out of all alcoholic beverages wine was safe. I now know the reason for my stomach upset, headaches, and strange occurrences of passing out before I finish my first glass. I have been ingesting gluten.
