Vineyards Vs Wineries: A Crash Course
While were on this topic, let me clarify something: a vineyard is where they GROW the grapes, a winery is where they make the wine. Some companies do grow the fruit and make the wine, sometimes they even do it all in one place. In that case, the wine is an estate wine. But owning a vineyard doesnt make somebody a winemaker anymore than owning a cattle ranch makes them the chef in a steakhouse. Certainly the quality of the fruit matters, it matters immensely, but so does the quality of the steak.
*before We Begin: Wine Drinks Are Not Wine
I am not talking about Wine Drinks, Wine Coolers, Flavored Wines or other beverages that get all loose with the definition of wine. If the beverage youre drinking contains anything other than 100% real wine, youre playing White-Russian Roulette & will probably get dosed. If you want a wine drink, make sangria or a spritzer, its easy, delicious & safe.
Wine is made from 100% grapes , thats it, thats all. Grapes and yeast in barrels or tanks. No grains of any kind.
In almost every case, wine is gluten-free to well below 20 parts per million. The only exception to this is wine-based beverages, like those mentioned above.

Is Rum Gluten Free
Rum is gluten free.
Since rum is made from sugar cane and molasses, it is usually safe to drink. The only time you need to worry about any glutenous ingredients is when flavors are added to the rum.
As a result, we recommend sticking with plain rums. But if you want a little flavor in your life, be sure to double check with the rum brand and examine the ingredients on the bottle thoroughly.
Popular gluten free rum brands include Malibu, Kraken, and Captain Morgan. Bacardi has quite a few gluten free rum options but those include gold, superior, 151, and flavored.

Is Distilled Alcohol Gluten Free
Although hard liquors such as vodka, bourbon, whiskey, gin, and scotch are made from glutenous grains, they are actually made gluten free through the rigorous distillation process.
So basically even though some liquors are made with gluten, after distillation, all the gluten is removed from the final product.
Thankfully, there are a couple fool proof liquors that are usually always gluten free such as tequila which is made from agave, rum which is made from sugar cane, and brandy which is basically distilled wine.
All of which are not made from wheat or any glutenous main ingredients.

No offense to all you Leos out there, but August is kind of the worst month. Its hot, summer vacations are becoming a thing of the past, and there arent even any holidays to look forward to. Im so incredibly ready to trade in my sandals for boots, my French vanilla for pumpkin spice, and my breezy rosé for a luscious red.
Thats why, in the spirit of wistfulness, I decided to buy every box of pinot noir I could find.
Ive raved about my love for boxed wine in the pastyou can read more about the wonder that is wine in a cardboard box here and hereso Ill try to keep this short and sweet: Boxed wines get a bad rap, and thats a shame. Theyre cheap, theyre sustainable, and most boxed brands taste as good as their bottled counterparts .

Best Gluten Free Wines You Have To Try
Wine is usually gluten-free wines, but that only means that its gluten content is below the FDA approved the amount. Which means less than 20 parts per million. This number is quite low, so many people with gluten intolerance can view it as gluten-free.
Unfortunately, though, those with celiac disease can be too sensitive to this chemical. So even if a certain food or drink is labelled as gluten-free, it might not be fit for them. Which is why some manufacturers make things specifically without gluten.
In our case, wine.
Black Box Pinot Grigio
As a member of BzzAgent I get to try new products and report back on my honest opinion. Since both my hubby and I have been exploring new wines lately I jumped at the chance to be part of this BzzAgent Campaign. A few days ago I got my Black Box Wine kit in the mail which contained several rebate offers, magnets and some plastic wine glasses so I was all set to try this boxed wine. My husband and I are no wine snobs. We are typically drawn to bottles of sweet wines like Moscato or Wise & Heimers Sweet Red which are under $10 per bottle.
After reviewing the types of wines Black Box offered we decided to try the Reisling however my trip to Publix yielded no Reisling since this kind was not on the shelf. I opted to try the Pinot Grigio for $23.99 per box instead. I have really enjoyed other Pinot Griogios by other wine makers so I had high hopes. After we let the wine chill for 24 hours we decided to try it out.
The good news is wine is always gluten-free.the bad news is I wouldnt purchase this one again. What is your favorite wine for under $10 per bottle?

Is Wine Gluten Free
Yes, all wine is gluten free!
Most wine tends to be gluten free from an ingredients perspective. The only time wine may be suspect to glutenous ingredients or cross contamination is from the wheat paste/sealant used in wine barrels.
This sealant sometimes tend to leak into the wine thus cross contaminating the wine.
However, most wineries are starting to remove this paste from their barrels.
So if you do have any questions about whether or not a wine contains gluten, its advised to contact the winery directly to see if their wines or barrels contain any wheat or glutenous ingredients.
But on a side note, if youre looking for delicious wines to experience and try, I suggest you check out one of these wine subscription boxes.
Basically the way it works is that each company will send you a box of wine that are all based on your tastes and palette.
It truly is a pretty awesome concept!
Bota Box Wine Is Not Vegan Friendly

Company email re Bota Box:”We cant make any guarantees that our wines are vegan as they may be treated with fining agents or they may come into contact with non-vegan based products at any time during their life cycle.”
Company email :”Our winemakers use a variety of tools available to them when crafting our wines. We don’t make any claims that our wines are gluten free, dairy free, vegan or vegetarian because our wines may have been treated with fining agents such as gelatin, casein, and fish products.”
Company email re: La Merika Wines:”The short answer is no we do not make the statement that our wines are vegan or vegetarian friendly. Since there may be slight differences/variations from vintage to vintage our winemakers need to have access to tools to help make the wines as consistent as possible. Some of these tools can make the wine non-vegetarian or non-vegan. In order to maintain as much flexibility as possible, we do not make claims that our wines are Vegan or Vegetarian friendly.”
Company email :”Unfortunately we cannot make the statement that any of the wines we produce is vegan or vegetarian-friendly. Each vintage is different and our winemakers need to use the tools necessary to make our wines as consistent as possible. We do import some wines as well, which would be another reason we could not guarantee a vegan or vegetarian status.”

Is Beer Gluten Free
The popular beer brands you know and love are not gluten free. This includes the likes of Budweiser/Bud Light, Miller, Coors, Blue Moon, Stella Artois, Corona, and Michelob just to name a few.
However, there are quite a few specialty breweries that excel in creating naturally gluten free, gluten reduced, and gluten removed beers.
Popular gluten free options include Redbridge , Bards Gold Lager, and Glutenberg.
Just be sure to watch out for gluten removed beers which are made with gluten containing ingredients but have them removed through distillation. Unfortunately, this process is not 100% perfect resulting in U.S. retailers not being allowed to sell/market these particular beers as gluten free.
Popular gluten removed beers include Omission, New Planet, and Greens.
For a better understanding of gluten free beer brands and specific options, be sure to read our in-depth guide.
Gluten Free Vodka Brands
Vodka is a very tricky alcohol for gluten free drinkers. You see, technically, during the distillation process of the vodka, the gluten proteins from wheat based vodkas is supposed to be removed. However, many people have claimed that these vodkas still contain gluten, thus leaving them feeling sick and nauseous. So to be safe, stay away from all wheat based vodkas if you have Celiac disease or a gluten sensitivity.
However, you can still opt for a non-wheat, potato, corn, or grape based vodka which are typically cleared for gluten free consumption.
Here are all the safe gluten free vodka brands that you can purchase and enjoy:

What? I have always read and been told that out of all alcoholic beverages wine was safe. I now know the reason for my stomach upset, headaches, and strange occurrences of passing out before I finish my first glass. I have been ingesting gluten.
I emailed them again for further clarification as to which of their brands specifically were aged in barrels containing wheat paste. This was their response.
