How To Benefit From The Red Wine Weight Loss Diet
Calories in Wine
To ensure you get the most from your weight loss strategy, you need to understand the number of calories in red wine. This goes a long way in making it easy for you to keep at your required calorie intake for the day. Most wines contain 175 calories per glass. The difference between calories in alcohol and calories in food is that the human body digests alcohol calories differently since it is detected as a toxic substance. This means that the calories in wine or other alcoholic drinks are taken through complex digestive processes, which ensure it is burned faster than food calories.
A daily dose of at most 2 glasses of wine is recommended if you are looking to lose weight.
To achieve your weight loss goals, you need to do more than drink wine and wait for some sort of magic to happen. Like any other diet weight loss plan, it needs to be incorporated into proper dietary guidelines and exercising. Therefore, ensure you have a working exercise plan and diet plan alongside your red wine plan. Exercising helps to keep your metabolism active, which aids in faster burning of calories for effective red wine weight loss.
Make sure to take plenty of water throughout the day. Wine wont substitute your daily water requirements. This ensures your cells are hydrated.
Wine And Belly Fat: Drinking Wine Can Promote Weight Loss
Let us now go back to our primary question. Can wine help you get rid of belly fat? Mayo Clinic acknowledges that red wine has a plant-derived chemical known as resveratrol. It is associated with numerous health benefits, some of which potentially include :
- Reducing the bad cholesterol in your blood ).
- Lowering your risk of inflammation and blood clotting, which consequently reduces your heart disease risks.
- Burning belly fat and decreasing inflammation that tends to be associated with obesity.
Looking at the last health benefit, we might give wine a pass and consider consuming it even while on a weight loss journey. However, you need to consult with your doctor before considering alcohol intake while on a weight loss journey.;

Keep in mind: Mocktails are always an option. Going liquor-free is the ultimate way to cut back on alcohol calories. But youll still need to keep an eye on whats going into the mocktails and choose a low-, or better yet, no-calorie water or sparkling water drink with lime, Kostro Miller suggests. If you do choose to drink alcohol on a given night, she says its a good idea to alternate between an alcoholic and nonalcoholic drink to keep your calorie intake in check. This will spread out the calories from alcohol and keep you hydrated, she says.
Can You Drink Alcohol And Still Lose Weight
BySam Wood– Updated 31st March 2021
Im here to tell you that you dont need to cut alcohol out of your life entirely. I will never be the personal trainer that says you cant drink or eat something. Its not my philosophy; never has been and never will be. Why? Because I practice what I preach. Yes, I eat chocolate and I love to have a beer with my friends, but I also know my limits, I train hard and I eat a balanced diet.

How Alcohol Acts In Your Body
Think of alcohol as a barrel of monkeys. In your everyday life, you enjoy drinking your morning coffee, eating a healthy salad, and finishing the day with a well-balanced dinner. Your body knows exactly what to do with these things. The carbs, protein, and fat are filed away like animals into a corral.
Ok, we have some muscle damage, well lets send this steak protein over there for processing. Oh, we need some quick energy to run to catch the train, better process this sugar on the double!
Your body works like a well-oiled machine. Until the monkeys arrive. As you drink your alcohol, its like someone shook, rolled, and then broke open the barrel of monkeys. Now you have mischievous little critters running all around wreaking havoc and your body says, Woah! Who let this craziness in here? We better get this cleaned up before we do anything else!
Because alcohol is technically a toxin, your body stops everything its doing to collect and process the alcohol. Unlike carbs, protein, and fat, your body refuses to store alcohol, which means it has to burn it right away.
While your body is dealing with the crazed monkeys, the other nutrients in your body are pushed to the side and stored for later.
The Mindset Of A Moderate Drinker
Regardless of our individual reasons for losing fat and getting fit, we are all making fitness a priority in our lives.
The benefits of fitness are stupendous, but the reality is that doing all of the things needed to be successful can be very time-consuming.
A lot of hours, early morning workouts, willpower, sweat, spoiled workout clothes, self-motivation, cooking, prepping, measuring, and planning goes into achieving the body you want.
So it makes sense why people are afraid or hesitant to do things that could potentially undo the hours of hard work they put into their fitness goals.
But as weve seen from countless studies and failed New Years Resolutions, complete restriction from non-diet foods, drinks, and activities usually ends up biting these same people in the butt.
They put so much effort into their fitness goals and avoiding temptations that they eventually burn out.
They go out one night, slip up on their perfect diet plan, and feel so guilty that they say, screw it, and go way overboard.
Then they play damage control the next week by restricting even more only to do it all over again come the weekend.
Its a perpetuating diet cycle that you do NOT want to get caught up in.
Ive been there, done that, and dont plan on going back.
So how can you avoid going back and forth between overly-restricting and giving into temptation?

Does Drinking Wine Contribute To Belly Fat
A glass of wine can be a relaxing way to unwind in the evening or the perfect pairing for a gourmet meal. In moderation, drinking wine won’t cause belly fat any more than any other food or beverage in your diet. In fact, research shows that it could even help reduce weight gain. Drinking too much wine, however, will have the opposite effect.
Unlocking The Secrets Of The Grape
The health benefits often attributed to red wine are thought to be the result of resveratrol. This phenolic compound is found in grape skins, as well as in peanuts and other fruits like raspberries and blueberries. It has been the subject of much excitement in the scientific and health communities. While more research is needed , several studies have indicated that resveratrol has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which may help with everything from heart disease and cancer to obesity and weight loss.
Resveratrol is typically contained in red wine not white.

Wine Belly Vs Beer Belly
So, does wine cause belly fat? If so, how is it different than a beer belly?
Wine belly and beer belly are actually the same thing. All forms of alcohol contain calories, and it is well known that consuming extra calories can help you put on extra weight. Not all drinks are created equal1: Light beer, for instance, contains an average of 103 calories per serving. Regular beer contains roughly 153 calories.
Most wines fall somewhere in between, averaging 121 to 129 calories per five ounce glass. This means that wine is slightly better than most beer. But imagine knocking back enough glasses of wine to keep pace with a couple of beer buddies. In the end, would it make a huge difference?
Then, there are disparities in gender, drinking, and weight gain. Wine seems to be more popular among women2. Beer bellies are often associated with male drinkers, and its true that men tend to develop belly fat more quickly. On the other hand, it appears that women store more fat in their bodies overall. This is especially true after menopause.
It can also take more time for women to lose extra weight from their abdomen. As a result, even if men can develop a gut more easily, consuming excess calories is not a good idea for women either. No matter who you are or what beverage you prefer, excessive drinking is likely to give you some kind of belly.

Should I Drink Wine When Trying To Lose Weight
If your favorite life mottos revolve around wine , you might dread the thought of giving up your favorite reds and whites when trying to lose weight. But do you really need to put a cork in your sipping habits? How many calories are in a glass of red wine or white wine? And is it possible for wine to pair well with your weight-loss goals?
Wine can fit into a healthy eating pattern when attention is paid to how often and how much you drink, says Sarah Schumacher, MS, RDN, CDE, of UW Health, the integrated health system of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Heres what you need to know about wine and weight loss.

How Red Wine Might Help You Lose Weight
For starters, drinking moderate amounts of alcohol improves blood flow, which means not only are more nutrients being transported into cells but so is more oxygen-a necessary component of fat burning, Lockwood says.
A glass of red also increases your levels of two hormones-adiponectin and free testosterone, which help you burn fat and build muscle, respectively-while decreasing estrogen, which makes you retain fat, and serum hormone binding globulin , a hormone that prevents free T from acting on receptors. Together, this formula creates a more anabolic environment, releasing stored fat and increasing your metabolism, explains Lockwood.
Sounds great, right? The catch is there’s a threshold of when alcohol goes from harmless , into troublesome territory. All the positives already mentioned are limited to light to moderate drinking-that’s just one glass of wine, occasionally. So what happens when you pour yourself a second or third glass?

Is Liquor Better Than Wine
Does switching to the harder stuff help you avoid bloating and weight gain? Lets take vodka vs wine as an example.
Vodka does have fewer calories than wine. But bewareonce you start mixing vodka with anything other than club soda, youre probably consuming more sugar than in a single serving of wine or beer.
On top of this, making a habit of drinking hard liquor is hard on your body in a variety of other ways. Its best not to have more than one serving of alcohol per night. And honestly, what would you rather sip after a long day: a tasty glass of wine, or a single, straight shot of vodka?
Treat Your Body To A Healthy Snack Instead
For the same number of calories as a glass of wine, you could be nourishing your body with a healthy and tasty snack. Again, wine isnt just grapes. Some of Zumpanos favorites are:

Fitting Wine Into A Healthy Diet
A healthy, calorie-controlled diet combined with a regular exercise plan is a surefire way to slim your stomach. You can fit moderate drinking — defined as one 5-ounce glass of wine a day for women and two for men — into a weight-loss diet as long as you’re not exceeding your calorie goals for the day. Work with your doctor or a dietitian to figure out how many calories you need to consume each day to lose weight. Then, keep a journal and track your intake, including any wine you drink.
Does It Have To Be Red Wine
Red and white wine can both be a good time. But red wine is prob the healthier choice. While white wine has some healthy plant compounds, its less beneficial than red wine because of the way its made.
Red wine is fermented with the grape seeds, skins, and stems white wine isnt.
Grape skins help give your glass that that red, red wine color you know and love. Theyre also why red wine has more tannins and resveratrol than white wine. In fact, red wine can have 10 times more resveratrol than white varieties. Wowza!
