Vintage
The 2019 harvest started one to two weeks later than previous years due to February rains. Spring continued to be wet with some rain during flowering, followed by cool temperatures that allowed the grapes to mature gradually. Most grapes ripened at lower sugars, thanks to the extended, cool growing season, and winemakers were pleased with the full flavors, fresh acidity, and superb balance of the 2019 fruit. The resulting crop showed a modest yield with a slightly more compact structure and extract than in previous years.

On the palate, the wine is fruit-forward and ripe with hints of lavender and violet leading to fresh strawberry, black raspberry, red cherry and cola nut, supported by delicate fresh herbs hints of mint, mocha and milk chocolate. The tannins are focused and long providing a rich texture and mouthfeel, with an elegant balance and structure that complements the mouth filling flavors. Well integrated baking spice notes of cinnamon and nutmeg from the toasted oak barrels are seamlessly woven throughout the wine, complementing the berry fruit aromas and flavors which leads to a long mouthwatering finish. Vineyard & Varietal Information
Beaulieu Vineyards roots lie in a 4-acre estate in the heart of Rutherford, purchased for $12,000 in 1900. Its owners, Georges and Fernande de Latour, were looking to continue their cream of tartar business, scraping off potassium tartrate crystals from the inside of wine barrels. Over the years, however, the de Latours expanded their property, starting Beaulieu in 1904. Today, it is one of Napas oldest and most venerable wine estates.
Now owned by Treasury Estates, Beaulieu spans 200-plus Rutherford acres across three ranches, plus other estates in Carneros and Calistoga.
