Silver Oak: Quintessential American Cabernet

Silver Oak 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

Last October, our first-ever allocation of Silver Oaks Napa Valley Cabernet from the 2013 vintage disappeared within hours of our email going out. Earlier this year, we debuted the 2014 vintage to the same results. After months of calls and emails, were wrestled a few more bottles from the mailing list: 13 cases of the stellar 2014 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon are available today, in perfect condition from Silver Oaks headquarters and ready to ship now.

With Silver Oak, we take our relationship with the Duncan family quite seriously, so whenever third-generation family member, Matt Duncan, calls about meeting, we drop everything and oblige himand thats exactly how we landed this second allocation of a truly stunning Cabernet Sauvignon.

Earlier this year, we rode the elevator up to the top floor of the Archer Hotel in downtown Napa. Matt was already sitting at a table, talking with Nate Weis, Silver Oak & Twomeys Vice President of Wine Growing. He greeted us with his usual warm smile as we eyed a bottle of 2014 Silver Oak Napa Cabernet already decanting. Have a seat, he said. Grinning, he poured the inky-black elixir into our glasses. Mind if we have some wine?

As the last drops from the decanter trickled out into glasses, Nate let us in on one juicy story: I wore a suit and tie to my interview and Matts uncle, CEO & Proprietor David Duncan, just looked at me and said, What the hell are you wearing?

What Year Of Silver Oak Is The Best

It depends on personal preferences. However, many experts agree that the best year for Silver Oak wines is 1972. This was an exceptional year for winemaking in California, and the resulting wines are prized for their exceptional quality and flavor. If you have the opportunity to try a bottle of Silver Oak from this vintage, you are sure to be impressed by its complex and well-balanced flavor profile.

Which One Is Better Pinot Noir Or Cabernet Sauvignon

It is difficult to compare Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon wines because they are two completely different styles of wine. Pinot Noir is elegant and thin, while Cabernet Sauvignon is powerful and bold. One of the great differences between Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon is the thickness of its skin.

Pinot Noir grapes have very thin skins, which allows the wine to have a light color and delicate flavor. The downside to having such thin skins is that the grapes are very sensitive to weather conditions and can easily be damaged. The thin skins also mean that there is less tannin in Pinot Noir wines, which makes them more approachable and easier to drink.

Cabernet Sauvignon grapes have thick skins, which give the wine a deep color and strong flavor. The thick skins also add a lot of tannin to the wine, which can make it taste bitter. However, the tannins in Cabernet Sauvignon wines will soften over time, making them more enjoyable to drink.

So, which one is better? It really depends on your personal preference. If you prefer a light-bodied wine with delicate flavors, then Pinot Noir is a good choice. If you prefer a full-bodied wine with strong flavors, then Cabernet Sauvignon is a better option.
